Hello!

I have won $2.30 through playing a few freerolls and was wondering should I use it now to play the lowest buy-in tourneys or keep focusing on freerolls?

I think you should play some more freerolls to build a bigger bankroll before playing some real money games, because you can have a couple of bad days in a row and lose all your bankroll. With a bigger bankroll, you can play more comfortable.

I won little over $2 in a partypoker freeroll today will use it it to register for CardsChat Saturday and Sunday $1.10 buy in games this weekend as value added.

Always keep focusing on the freerolls even if you have a large roll too as they are + EV.

I would try to build your roll until you had 100 buyins for whatever you want to play.

Stick with tourneys and freerolls..

If you're strictly trying to build you BR, risk/reward says: stick to fixed loss situations. Lower entry tourneys and free-rolls, at least that way if you go on tilt, you losses are known, minimized.

You can build it up or play some micros if you feel like you can do well in them.

I advise you to continue playing freerolls and increase your bankroll. This amount is too small, there is a risk of losing everything very quickly. because of a small bankroll, you may play too carefully, which is also not very good for poker.:)

Keep focusing on freerolls. Playing with bankroll of $2.30 is playing with scared money.

You asked a very interesting question that would have helped me a few days ago, I won 3 dollars and I started playing normal games, it was a disaster, really. Now I am going to concentrate on spin and go of 0.25 and the low tournaments, what good answers they gave you !!:idea::idea:

This ^^^^

How hard was it for you to get that $2.30, you will lose $2.30 a lot faster than you won it.

Stick to freerolls until you have 100 buy ins for the games that you want to play like TeUnit said.

$2.30 is a very small BR, it is 1 buy in at 2nl, or 4 $0.55 cent tournys.

Good luck.

Use it, free money you have just as much chance of building up your bank in a sit/go or tournament as winning again in a freeroll

Bankroll management is really important to be disciplined in and so is table selection. I would wait for a bigger bankroll first - ideally 100+ buyins for the stakes you are playing.
It reminds me of a story from poker pro Phil Hellmuth. Recently after winning the wsop main event (!) he entered a local casino and of course heads turned to see if the world champion would enter the highest stakes table. Phil said, he had to shallow his pride and keep his ego in check. They would undoubtedly be whispering gossip on whether or not he was less wealthy than he claimed if he wasn't at the highest stakes, but Phil admitted (in the interview he was telling the story at years later) that he could have entered as he had the money to do so, but he didn't want to risk the variance: he just wanted an "easier table" he knew he could play well at. So he didn't sit down at the highest stakes table that day, nor did he sit down at the 2nd table, but at the 5th table!

If Hellmuth can ignore caring about what others think for bankroll safety and discipline, than why shouldn't we as well? Variance is a poker killer that has bankrupted many pro players (multiple times in many cases!) and bankroll management is even more important than poker ability in many cases.

I really like the comments in this thread. I have won a few bucks in freerolls from time to time, and I have wondered what to do just as the first poster asked. Like some of you said I quickly lost it playing Blast or Spin and Go. Might try some of the MMTs from now on. Thanks for the advise guys !

It's best to continue the free roll.

But it may be better to go out to a tournament of a small buy-in.

The cash game is still useless by all means.

Of course you want to continue playing freerolls, play on different sites so that you can get small bankrolls. Use these to play micro stake mtt, and try satellite stepping up. For example I won $20 on a cardschat freeroll on one of the sites. I played mini mtts and built that up to 40. This week I played a 1,10 satellite to an 11 dollar satellite and won a $109 seat to a 20.000 Gtd tournament. Hopefully Ill get lucky there. That is a way to build up from freeroll bankroll.
