I didn't have a coach. I don't think you need a coach at the beginning of this journey.

When I started to play around 17 years ago, poker coaches were not very common. Nowadays, I see there are a lot of poker coaches or poker courses available. I had to learn reading books, like Harrington on Holdem or Super System (OMG I'm getting old..lol).

No I just learned how to play, then played socially with friends, then went to online and saw I didn't know what I was doing, was a pure fish! Then studied online...now I'm winning tournaments and my bankroll is up a high percentage so I'm happy as I'm able to live on my winnings ATM. WBU?

Having a coach is not a bad thing but most players will never need to get one. They are great if you want to improve and play at higher levels but most players wort go to that level.

Many people here know I have hopes and dreams for my poker future. Would using a coach at this time be of value for the games I play. No it would not. It would cost more money and effort than its worth. Do I have one? I play for the enjoyment of the game and want to be a better player. I do what I have to to improve.

I started playing poker over 12 years ago. When I started, I only played on PokerStars. At that time, PokerStars had its own poker school, and there were video lessons on the school's website. These video lessons turned out to be enough for me to understand the basics of the game, and then I actually learned in the process, learned from my own mistakes.

Unfortunately, when I started playing poker, I didn’t have a coach. I say unfortunately because if I worked with an experienced coach, I would have been able to avoid many mistakes at the beginning of my poker career and bad habits in the future!!!

had a poker coach half way through my poker career briefly and it help alot, skipping passed alot of learning buy error and saving money but some teaching things that could have been learned by trial by error

when i started playing there were no coaches .... there weren't any books on holdem either , cause almost nobody played it ( 5 card draw high and later lowball was all that was legal in California , and bridge for money, btw ) . the first sort of modern thing i saw in print was a thin publication called 'the computer guide to holdem poker '.
