Aspers Casino Christmas Cracker

Hi all. Over the weekend I'm going to be playing my biggest ever live game.

The £250 Aspers Christmas Cracker. Its at Aspers in Stratford. Its a Mystery Bounty event where the bounties come into play or Day 2. There are 4 flights on Thurs-Sat, I'll probably play the Saturday daytime flight. I just qualified tonight by playing a £20 rebuy satellite. I had my initial buy in plus an add on, so £40 total.

Really excited, but I'll be pretty nervous on the day tho too, as I've only really played in a large casino event a handful of times. There is likely to be a 10k bounty on offer, and a massive prize pool too. I've no idea how many players to expect on each flight, or how many in total, its going to be really interesting seeing how it all unfolds.

The other little bonus is, every entry wins a mystery prize, potentially a pint at the bar, pair of socks, ipad or a TV. Never owned an ipad so that would be nice!!

I just played a micro event on 888 yesterday and I got both bounties of the second highest category. 😎

Leaving me with an ROI of 7400%. Unfortunately the buyin was only 1€ though. 🤓

Congratulations! I also won in that same Satellite, and will be going on Saturday also! I was on Table 2, so no idea if I played you, but good luck regardless! It's a fun event - I played it a few years ago and won a pair of Monster Headphones worth about £160 as my gift. This will be my first ever Mystery Bounty tournament (being the first year they've made it Mystery Bounty), if I make it to Day 2!

Awesome!!! Are you the guys that got quad T’s to survive? Or maybe the guy who he game a lift to?

Up to you whether you'd like to look at this to see the sort of thing to expect or not, but this is the last Christmas Cracker I think they had:

It's listed in a weird way here, because the "£50,000 Guaranteed" I think was the total value of the prizes separate to (and in addition to) the prize pool. Totalling up the entries, the total Prize Pool would be the prize pool and the guarantee added together.

Incidentally, if you’re at all interested, Cardschat is a great forum. Been on here a couple of years now, the regular freerolls on loads of sites are great. It’s a solid group of players, and loads of good learning material etc.
I was not even close to good enough to get to this tourney a couple of years ago. Have to credit a lot of that to being here!

If you love poker you'll find so much more than the freerolls too. There's a load of great people too, its an amazing community.

Just make a few posts per day and you'll be at Platinum in no time at all!

Interesting looking mix of prizes....would def prefer the pint than some of them

, but some are pretty high value too! Its a cool Christmas bonus to the tourney! 🎄

Oh, in the Aspers I was playing too in the 888 Live Event 2019. I was surprised, that it is in a huge shopping centre.

Yeah it is a bit weird, but we do love a shopping centre in the UK. Not me tho....

I've satellited my way to the $109 Satellite for the 888 Live Madrid Package which I've got on Sunday evening. It would be an odd but cool problem for me to have if I'm at the final table in the Christmas Cracker, mentioning I have to be trying to win a trip to Madrid at the same time

I believe you!! Luckily for me my girlfriend is very similar.

I suppose many of the population may be disgusted to have a massive casino being normalised by being in a shopping centre, I'm disgusted I have to walk around all the shops to get to the casino!! Although since @IIZendrixII directed me to the easy way out I'm hoping for less aimless wandering!!

Well, I didn’t really get much chance to post earlier. I do have time now as I’m out!!! 😢

Just not my day.

Early on my AA gets cracked by QQ. All in on flop when he had hit his set.

Survived for a while, battled back from 4K ish to maybe a high of 11k.
Finally shoved with AKs and got called by JTs, who flopped a J to send me home!

Oh and my ‘Christmas present’ was a free pint at the bar. So I’m having that now! 🤣

However…..like a ginger version of Arnie……I’ll be back!

It was a great experience, and I’ll def be trying to keep playing some more live games when I can.

Just chatted to @IIZendrixII amd he had almost quadrupled up his starting stack…..so he is still in with a great chance!! Go go go!!!

However great a start I had, it wasn't to last. I survived to Level 15 at 3,000/6,000 blinds, but I was short-stacked at only 27K, so shoved with A5 suited only to run into AA and QQ. QQ hit a Q on the Turn and I had nothing left to chase, so such is life! (Day 1s were 16 levels total.)

I did have some interesting hands overall though - My best was having a Full House beating another Full House. Even though I had gotten up to 93K by the end of Late Registration though, I never got higher than that, and slowly but surely my stack diminished, fluctuating a little here and there, but not by much. I got AA twice only for everyone to fold pre-flop both times, so no-go on that.

And my gift? I only got a drink too

Well played mate, sometimes you just have to hang in there and hope its your day. Harsh to make it so deep but not quite enough.

When AA is not winning big pots its also tricky to keep the stack going in the right direction.
Onwards to the next big game. Hope your 888 game goes well.
