I don't usually respond to chat. If I am on my tablet, I'm usually on the treadmill, so it is too difficult to respond. If I am on my desktop computer, I'm just too slow typing to respond in a timely manner...started this post at 3:00 pm...LOL !

I am never distracted by conversations during the game. I do not see the need to comment and be distracted, it is better to focus on the game.
