I think online poker is within everyone's reach. Playing at the micro limit tables, $ 30 is enough to start. What you think

depends on what stakes you start playing at.
  • $10 mtts? very unlikely to be enough.
  • $1 mtts? potentially enough, but good chance it's not.
  • .25 mtts? more than enough to get started.

I started with freerolls, and spun a little and now I'm just playing microlimits, I think that's enough)

The obvious answer is 0, if you have the dedication and will not to give up due to variance. There are multiple freerolls across sites each day with plenty of people a beginner can beat. From there, you'll want the lowest variance games where you can get the highest edge, usually NL2 cash games, to boost your roll. Start adding higher variance games as you acquire a higher bankroll.

Never forget proper bankroll management. My very conservative guideline concerning both cash games and tournaments for myself is:

- 30 buy-ins for heads-up play
- 50 buy-ins for 6-max play
- 70 buy-ins for 9-max play
- 100 buy-ins for MTTs

You can read more about proper bankroll management here on Cardschat: https://www.cardschat.com/poker-bankroll-management.php - mind you, they are less conservative than my outline above.

I don't know if there is a correct answer here. The real question is if you are a totally newcomer to the game or not.

If someone doesn't have a clue for example about open raise ranges from each position-stack depth or pot odds he will lose even a $10,000 deposit game after game.

If someone understands at least some basic strategy I am 100% sure that he will be able to find his way even with not an initial deposit through dedication and volume.(I think you got my point here :) )

I think a wise move is to take your pass to the Freeroll Club of the forum.
Also this one here is very helpful :

The poker pros very in their opinion but they say ususally at least 100 buy ins should be your bankroll. So if you want to play in $1 tourney you need at least $100 bankroll.

Hi.
I think you just need to play in freerolls and thus build your bankroll from scratch. Thanks to freerolls, each player can improve their skills and increase bankroll without losses.
Good luck.

It depends on the player's skill and the stakes they're playing in.

Make no mistake, a beginner will leak money because of a lack of skill, so it will definitely cost him money. I would guess a beginner to have a ROI of approximately -25%, so for each game they play it costs them 25% of the buy-in. For cash games the ROI can look a lot worse, I believe.

For instance, if said beginner plays $20 in tournaments a day, it would cost him $5 a day to play poker.

For lot of players with mediocre skills, it might less, but still cost something.

For a player at the top 60-70% of the player pool, it might costs him nothing as he is break-even -- he is essentially just "working" for the poker site, generating rake for them. poker sites love these types of players.

The good thing is that to learn to play poker well it doesn't have to cost a player any money, as they could start learning with play money, freerolls, and slowly move into the real money micro stakes.

If you play SNG $ 0.25 it would be nice to have at least $ 25. If you are going to play SNG $ 1.00 it would be good to have at least $ 100 and if you are going to play MTTs of varying amounts always keep in mind to have at least 100 buy-ins in amounts for what you are going to play.

Just study and practice

You don't necessarily need money, with studying and practicing enough, you can play starting with participating in freeroll, so get started. The most I achieved in those tournaments was $ 50.
I am not an amateur player, I only play when I have time.
Someday I intend to participate in tournaments with higher buy-in., And make good profits.

As stated above many times, freerolls are the best place to start. With persistence and proper skills you can run $0 to a healthy bankroll to start grinding micros. Just be sure to do your homework and play accordingly. No shame in folding.

Thank you very much for your answer! How long has it taken you to bank properly to play major tournaments? Sometimes the freerolls get a little aggressive with the players having no investment, and it is very difficult to win prizes. With dedication and learning I guess I'll improve! :D

Thanks for the advice! Everyone agrees on that. I suppose that playing a buy-in that does not affect your banking helps to play calmer and better. :icon_stud

$ 30 is a good amount to start in micro limits, you can also play freerolls and by having more banks to level up.
