Now I am learning to play poker and only play online. Is it significantly different online from offline?
In my opinion, online and live poker are simply two different games. But if you play well online, your chances of good results in a live game will be much higher.babyrosejr said:Now I am learning to play poker and only play online. Is it significantly different online from offline?

Online games, fast and dynamic. Playing online you can play 2, 3, 4 or even more tables at the same time. I think if you play live, it will be difficult to play more than one table at a time. Especially if you take into account that in online games there are hyper tournaments where in fact most players play with all hands in a row. So I think the difference between online and live games is quite big.babyrosejr said:Now I am learning to play poker and only play online. Is it significantly different online from offline?

Of course online and offline poker are different! You get completely new emotions in offline poker. It's more colorful! But it is important not to show these emotions, because the psychology factor in offline poker is crucial.babyrosejr said:Now I am learning to play poker and only play online. Poker Orifice said:imo, No not as much as many will suggest. Also, 'live tells' are really over-rated imo. When I first went to play at bigger venue live setting, I spent so much time on studying 'tells', both physical & verbal. OMG what a huge waste of time that was.
One of the biggest differences that I have noticed in NLHE Tournament play is the players are MUCH MUCH WORSE than I could've ever imagined. When playing in a live tournament it feels like I'm playing amongst a lot of the folks who suggest that online poker is rigged... loads of fundamental errors.
