I think it depends on who you are. But playing online is definitely convenient and affordable for most players

In answer to the question in the title: it's not better, it's faster. There are places where you can't play live at all. There's still online poker, which allows you to play even while sitting on the toilet. And where you can play multiple game types in seconds, that's definitely an advantage.

I play in the evenings after work, I play only online. On weekdays, I work all day and it's optimal for me to play poker at home, in comfortable conditions and not waste time on the road.
