Yes, stealing from the sitting out player when possible. The real challenge is playing a wider range verses others that are attempting to steal. Makes for another interesting dynamic of the game.

Of course, if such a situation arises, then this is money in the bank that just goes there and this is a very good reason to try to "steal" it.

When you see a player sitting out in the big blind do you try to steal his chips by bluffing?

Played a Freeroll one time where all of my opponents were sitting out, I stole every blind until I had almost every chip at the table and it broke.
But also had tourneys where only a few people were not sitting out and it was a battle with some of the greedy players who wanted to steal more that their fair share :)

 Yes, of course, of course, I cannot deny it, as long as I know of the opportunity, you have to take advantage of it, everything has its moment.

If you lose, don't bother, understand that you gave your best ...

Of course, although sometimes there is a "war" for the steal, and you don't always have the cards to last it. Last tournament I was at the table (start of second day) where everyone was "sit out" except me and other player. I figure we can "share" the blinds, but he was b3 betting every single hand, and If I called - he would go shoved just to get the blinds - even when I was in the blind. Decide to punish him by shoving my AA, and got called with 98s. He hit his flush, but after my elimination, the tables got reset, and he lost that chip cow. I watched him for 5 more minutes - he tried same strategy on the other table (only 4 players were sit out), and got nocked out within 3 orbits. Moral of the story - don't be so selfish - share the spoils.

Yes, when I play freerolls I pay because I know that the one who is out of the game did not pay anything, but when he is on the money, if I do not have good cards in hand I do not pay only out of respect for the one who paid the entrance. His internet would have fallen.

Sitting Out

Free chips and I do believe in sharing the wealth, no reason to be greedy here. This only lasts so long and then it is down to business so do not get greedy because in the end your finished. Capo1014

This topic makes me think of how Phil Helmuth is famous for showing up late to wsop. I wondered if it's ever been an issue if all the other players at the table are like "let's try to blind-out Helmuth".

In that case, you have to be patient and aggressive enough to enter and get as many chips as possible.

From a strategic perspective, yep, doing this pretty much all the time

I have a favorite tournament on ACR that runs every sunday where 50% of the field is sitting out.

It's a $95 satellite to either the $1k, the $2650 Venom or the $5k cage (depends on time of year)

Occasionally I'll get put on a table where the entire table is sitting out, auto press the raise button every hand, it's pretty glorious :)

-----

When it is headsup however in a big event, if someone is experience internet difficulties or whatever, in this case I will not just go steal steal steal.

For some reason it feels very different when someone is having technical difficulties vs when they simply didn't show up to an event.

My 2 cents on this topic :D

Well, in my reading when I go to steal, I'm going to 100% steal guaranteed, otherwise the reading is fold.:icon_sant:eek::joyman:

No, never. I do not recommend to do that to any inactive. I was kidnapped by aliens and they've told me to never do such horrible thing to inactive players. Trust me.

It is not very common, but it will happen sometimes. This most often happens in freerolls where registration is possible several hours before the tournament starts. It happened to me several times in spin & go tournaments, then of course I took advantage of the situation and picked up free chips. I don't think anyone from here waits for an opponent :)
