Bovada check bounced

Had Bovada check bounce today. Thought I had enough funds in my account and overdrafted. Will be charged a fee for that and a bounced check fee. **** you, Bovada. Will be sticking permanently with 5dimes. I do mostly sports betting, but just wanted to share this information with other Bovada users.

Stay away from Bovada. Had mostly smooth payouts, but had another check bounce today and I think I've had enough of this crappy sportsbook scam. Overdrafted my account thinking I had enough funds. Will be charged a fee for the bounced check as well. Will be sticking permanently with 5dimes from now on. Forget Bovada. Always f*ckin around... If you start to really win, they will start asking for all kinds of documents if you want a payout. You have to make imprints of your bank cards and scan em and send it to em after a few payouts in a row. Then they will start bouncing your payout checks. SCAM!

Chase mobile offers online check deposits by taking a picture of the check, works for me every time with Bovada checks, never have to go to the bank either.

The last Bovada check I attempted to cash via Mobile deposit AND at the ATM at Chase, I had to take it to the teller--something about an international check. That being said, I've never had an issue cashing a Bovada Check--EVER!

How did you guys handle it if your banks ask what the check is for?

Have you EVER had a teller ask what a check or deposit is for?

Never in 40 years of banking have I EVER had a teller ask me such a personal question. If I EVER get asked about any deposit, I most likely would just stare at them with a blank look on my face and say nothing.

...I sent in the check which is from Hong Kong along with ...

This has me puzzled. Bovada checks are coming from Hong Kong now? Every check I have ever received was from a Canadian bank.

Banking Side notes:
I usually keep a portion of my Poker bankroll in my checking account. If a check ever doesn't clear there are no worries about insufficient funds.

A lot of banks offer overdraft protection, if you are dealing with a number of deposits from foreign accounts or other sources, I'd strongly recommend it.

Credit Unions used to be able to provide higher interest on savings accounts and lower interest on car loans. In the past ten years I have seen their rates go the opposite direction. I see NO useful purpose to have a credit union account. If I ever do again, I guarantee that it would not be my primary bank.

Believe Bovada has multiple processors, while the majority of them come from canada you will occasionally get one from Hong Kong. Checks can bounce from any site, is it likely? It shouldn't be, but that doesn't mean it doesn't happen everywhere. Bovada I believe will make things right, I could be wrong.

Hello!
I cash out for $500 and I am waiting for the check to arrive. I am worry when I send in the check for deposit and since it is a international check how would my credit union react. How did you guys handle it if your banks ask what the check is for?.I live in Texas and hoping to get some advice on this...

Thanks
 Texas4life53
I use chase bank and have deposited many checks from bovada and they never ask what it is for. If they ask say you do business in canada, that is where their checks are coming from nowadays. You do have to deposit it unless you have enough money in your account to cover it since it is an international check it takes 3-4 days to clear. I wouldn't worry if I were you.

Just wait til you're on a winning streak... It will eventually bounce, reject, or require a buncha information from Bovada to proceed. It was rejected today and talking to the bank, they say they don't know the reason why and will be snailmailing back the check. Bovada pays out fine when you are down overall, but once you start winning consistently, they will pull little bullsht like this. When my streak started, they for some reason required me to make imprints of my cards and photocopies of my ID and all kinds of nonsense in order to get my payout. Outta nowhere too. After probably my 20th payout from them they pull this sorta stuff. STAY AWAY FROM BOVADA.

Have you tried contacting support? I'm pretty sure they're not going to punish people on a hot streak. And asking for ID verification is standard.

I spoke to them and all they told me is they need a statement from my bank to proceed. I've read online that other people are having issues getting checks bounced from Bovada so this is not an isolated incident. Basically, I am penalized without my payout for however long this takes to get resolved (probably weeks). As for the ID verification, I find it odd that I was never required to do this until I got on a hot streak. Coincidence? Maybe. But seems a little suspect to me.

Bovada has the lowest deposit and payout minimums for a reason. It's like being at HG casino for any of you Cali folks. Also, I know this is a poker forum, but I mostly bet on sports. There is definitely more incentive to slow down hot players on a sportsbook compared to poker.

There the best US site by far. My last check came in 4 days and even over a weekend. The canadian check is an issue, because my bank ATM wont process it. Went to the teller, they put it in easy peasy. No issue at all. ATM is easier for me though. Otherwise top notch service. Jake

I have got to say this site is amazing regarding cash outs, given the current poker environment in the US. Both the wife and I have had a handful of checks from Bovada in the past 6 months and the most recent arrived in 3 business days.

Now, since it was a check (cheque) drawn on a Canadian bank, it could not be deposited via the ATM, but we have had no issues depositing these into our account.

Kudos Bovada ... all cashouts have arrived in 3-5 business days.

I'm getting so sick of Bovada... So got the bounced check back from my bank. Sent scans over to Bovada like they requested. Then they reply with this:

Dear Mr. xxxxx,

Thanks for contacting Bovada Customer Service.

We appreciate you taking the time to message us in regards to Payout Reference Number xxxxxxxxx.

We ask you to kindly to email or fax us "proof of rejection" from the bank. It could be a rejection stamp on the check or a letter from the bank.

Please email to [email protected] or fax us at 1-866-569-9987.

Etc...

Email them back telling them I just sent over the bounced check. They then reply with this:

Dear Mr. xxxxx,

Thanks for contacting Bovada Customer Service.

Thank you for taking your time to send us this information.

Your documents have been forwarded to the right department, please give 24-48 hours to review your documents, We will send you a message to your Bovada messages once completed.

Then I get this:
This message is in regards to your Check by Courier payout with Reference Number xxxxxxxxx. We apologize for any inconvenience you're experiencing in regards to your payout. Rest assured the check is indeed valid.

We suggest that you attempt to deposit the check with a larger financial institution, or endorse the check over to a family member or loved to have it deposited on their behalf.

I then reply and tell them it was rejected and that I sent over the documents. Then I get this:
We can't guarantee that you'll be receiving a US issued check as we're an international company.
You may want to endorse the check to a friend or a family member or try another financial institution that accepts international items.

They're not even addressing my issue. My check was rejected and stamped and they're telling me it's good. I sent them photos of the rejection stamp and all and they just keep telling me nonsense like the check is good.

I'm so effing fed up with Bovada. They just dicking me around cuz I haven't deposited in over a year. A lot of these "stellar" reviews seem planted by Bovada reps. After my first post, got a PM from a Bovada rep giving me the same tired response of "email the bounced check to our customer service department." Still no progress after multiple exchanged emails.

Is your bank a small chain? If so the problem may lie there as bad as that seems. This is a bad situation and sorry for your complication. It may be worth trying to open an account with a big bank institution, IE WF, BoA, etc.
