Daniel Negreanu leaves Pokerstars

He has so much money, he won so much on the tables, he is worldwide know as one of the top players of all time... He doesn´t need Poker Stars anymore.
I hope he gets another sponsor, new one, new ideas, new beggining. A better sponsor.
I follow him on Instagram, he is a great guy, just got married, he is going to have kids and build his family.

I only knew him from YouTube, until I played at Pokerstars. The first clip I watched showed his funny personality off right away. He made his money.

Always had a lot of respect for Daniel, think he's a classy guy with good character. PokerStars will struggle to replace him.

Haven't read every single post on this board but seems like nobody replied to molokheia. I have limited knowledge on this, having not played much/at all in the past few years, but I think the main bullet-points are that pokerstars got taken over by a Canadian gaming company named Amaya (now called The Stars Group, I think) and, since then, Amaya have made the rewards schemes considerably worse for regular players, increased the rake at the tables and introduced casino games to the pokerstars brand - that last change was the reason that Victoria Coren Mitchell ended her sponsorship deal with pokerstars, she was happy to be an ambassador for poker, I.E. a skill game, but not for other gambling, I.E. games based purely on luck. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong about any of that, or have missed out any other key changes at pokerstars.

Also, on the main board issue of why Negreanu split with pokerstars, I think they probably wanted to renegotiate and pay DNegs less per year, at which point he probably realised that A.it wasn't worth that annual salary to remain censored by them on certain issues, better for him to be able to speak his own mind on any and all issues; and B.in the social media era, there's no real need for a sponsorship deal in order to retain his poker superstar status, he just needs to maintain his presence on youtube, twitter, etc - and keep on having awesome results at the wsop like he did this year. 16 cashes, 169% return on investment! Boom. And with 4 final tables (fact-check, anyone?) and two runner-up finishes among those cashes. Kid Poker's still got it, y'all!

I'm not too sure about all the reasons as to why Daniel decided to cut ties with PokerStars (I haven't seen anything other than speculation, so far) but what has been said is the split was amicable. However, I'm pretty sure his goal is to continue to promote poker in a positive light. His life has been changing over the past few months and likely has his sights set on other potential projects. Daniel won't keep us in the dark too long since that's not really his style.
