As PO said, it seems someone from PS explicitly said that the rumor that the deal is dead is false. The fact that the rumor started in the first place worries me because there was probably a reason for it, but hearing that it's not true straight from the source makes me a little more optimistic.

I'm sure you will correct me if I am wrong, but before we listen to any rumors about the deal being dead, shouldn't we listen to official announcements the the deals was ever alive?

TO my recollection, there was never an official announcement by Stars that this deal was real. The whole thing seems to be rumors only.

Eek that was alot of reading to come to the conclusion that no one really knows what's going on. I'm an optimistic person these days, but when it comes to this, I don't have any faith. My doubts lie on the DOJ side of any particular deal being struck, why should we believe they would ever do the right thing?

I think Pokerstars are handling it quite well. Keeping mostly quiet so as not to raise expectations like Tapies big announcements that came to nothing.
But they are trying to manage the rumours, without jumping the gun.

It will be interesting to see if they do actually start paying the FT wage bill.

But it is shocking if FT still has media managers on the payroll and they haven't published one word for their customers since the day the system went down.

On reading that, I immediately thought about Romney and Bain Capital. If the finding is that the guy listed at the top of the Stars Financial sheets is responsible, then Romney was responsible while his name was at the top of the Bain Financial sheets.

I still don't understand why stars wants to bother with the U.S. The negotiations and game-playing must be excruciating.

If Bitar wasn't considered a fugitive, how can Scheinberg be? As stated in the article, he's not a U.S. citizen, "he was living out of the country at the time of the indictment and there has been no indication that he is hiding or otherwise evading being found. All reports are that he works every day at PokerStars, which is still legally operating outside the U.S."
