In that first blog, the interesting comment is that FT will re-open TO THE WORLD...late this year.

here's hoping stars won't hold onto FTP for too long, only having one big site is terrible for the state of online poker in the long run imo, stars can do whatever they like atm

Looks like we "may" be getting closer to some good news. USA players can only hope. I'm glad I didn't have much at FT. I never liked the site or played much there. Only some league games.

Even though it will be a monopoly effect like people fear, I think they will just be run independently though?

For recreational players especially, they wont know any different and the fact stars will own both at least means we can be close to 100% that money will be segregated again and we can trust our rolls on both sites.

There will still be all sorts of promotions/adverts/FT pros and stuff like there used to be, the competition between them both never really happened from what I remember..they both did well alongside each other and they wasn't exactly trying to out do one another. I think the vast majority of regs played at both stars + ftp so it will be great for having the extra recreational players to be up against.

On another note, you must be excited to be going back to FTP ( assuming you will) and continue your run good there as opposed to stars?

even if they are run independently, there will be no ambition to reduce rake or increase rakeback in order for one site to gain more customers than the other. for that you need true competition. they'll also need to try and balance player pools so that both sites are big and have plenty of players on at all times, which might mean they delay releasing innovations or change schedules to encourage some players to switch to the other site

i didn't have much on ftp, only low 3 figs, altho i did prefer their software and they did have some epic tournaments, but that was largely destroyed with multi entry

Disagree here. FTPs desperation to be top dog is part of what brought around their demise imo.

Well if Stars repays the 360 million they can do whatever the **** they want with the rake imo.

What do you base that "interesting" opinion on? Its pretty obvious that they didn't segregate the funds and its pretty obvious that they looted the company. Whether they did it out of greed in the traditional sense (seems obvious) or for whatever reason, they stole the money and caused thousands of people life changing problems. Its not complicated, just evil.

I was just saying that the were a lot more factors than greed. I do not think "they" looted the company as much as the DOJ did.

Where's the evidence that money was stolen--I missed that. I understand that there were "loans" made (Barry Greenstein made one and owes money as well as others).

They caused a lot of people to have money (still) tied up on FTP. They are not the reason for thousands of people having life changing problems. The source of those people's problems can be found in a mirror.

I never said the the non-segregation of funds was an opinion. It seems to be the only thing that is NOT opinion.

There's evidence that they stole funds? I thought they all took out "loans". And, if taking out "loans" is stealing then man there's a lot of stolen stuff all over this country!

The money is not there for loans. It is players money and it should be segregated. They stole it and used it for their own purposes, advertising, tv shows and the loans you mention. If you gave me some money to look after and I gave it away to a buddy and then couldn't give it back, you'd want to do something about that I'd imagine.
