Bodog Launches New Software Today!

I mean really. There has to be some other way to prevent datamining for MTT tracking sides.

I know there are easy ways to prevent the use of HUDs, such as making player names anonymous in just the hand histories.

This is what I've been trying to tell you folks for the longest -- Bodog is pulling out all the stops to cater to the sportsbook fish and run off serious poker players. It goes way beyond just trying to defeat datamining sites or not allowing HUDs. This type of business model, which they officially call the "Recreational Player Model" that I keep mentioning, is pretty much terrible for even your casual losing reg, much less anyone trying to grind a profit.

I have quoted one of their VP's before stating point blank that they don't want winning poker players on their site, and this type of upgrade proves it out.

Shame, since otherwise it looks like a pretty slick update to what has historically been one of the worst of the US poker clients.

anon tables seems like a good idea IF you could take notes just for that tournament or table for cash games.

You do realize the same operation is staying in the US right? It just won't have the name Bodog on it. Nothing else will change from the player's perspective. Bodog hasn't actually run the game for years.

OK I didnt realize I had a few dollars on the site, so I played some ring game.

Well it definitely aint a social experience as the tables are just cold feeling with everyone being a number

I can hit and run and not feel like a punk, I usually hate leaving a game if I take down a nice pot, but now you can and if It wasnt a fluke, I sat right down at another table with min buy in again, thought you had to sit down with same amount or something like that

Now, I have never learned HEMS and HUDs and Multi tabling so I dont know if Im too upset that everyone is hidden, (but dang forum games are going to be a weird experience) but then I dont know how they will be able to pick up on people colluding, but if I can just move table to table with anyone getting to know my game, might not be a bad thing, or it might be a bad thing.

Tables are the same, that oddball look, but I aint going lie, the MTT lobby games look pretty good, but then again, most are above my comfort level on investment and yall know mine is low. LOL

They have some beginner MTT's with more payouts places, which might help build a bankroll but they are $8 a shot, YES THATS BIG TIME FOR ME.

I still dont like the actual playing table and never have and that still might be a big dtereent, but Im thinking of tryng to deposit, as I said the MTT stuff looks good, dont know if most get cancelled though. IM THINKING OF MAYBE of DOUBLE DOWNING for my biggest deposit ever $40 big ones. Im usually a $20 investor, but Im thinking of moving to higher buy ins. Im starting to feel it, Im getting that itch , Ok wait, slow down im moving way too fast

A lot of long-time online players may initially think negative of this software update, but big change can bring about negative feelings. These changes may well grow on people. I think you can fairly say this has never been seen in online poker.

My take is....Bodog will either become extremely popular and the changes will be a BIG HIT. Or it will be a COMPLETE FLOP and they will have to change back to regular tables. I do not think there will be any in-between here.

I think the marketing for the "Recreational Player" is a complete MISS. There is no online or brick/mortar casino that can say they only have recreational players. It seems if people like to play somewhere, they like to play there, and it attracts all types. Recreational Player vision may be a good idea in a virtual world, but it probably will not lead to a successful marketing effort. All the rooms are trying to get the "Recreational Player" (otherwise known at most online poker room management circles as LOSING PLAYER).

Agree kyndlyon. Wonder what bright light thought dropping user names and assigning numbers was a good idea. The site is a bit faster, but the graphics are still sub-par compared to many other sites. Bit of a disappointment overall.

Oh, and the 20 table thing? MTTs only, apparently. Cash and SNG -- the ones most likely to be massively multi-tabled -- appear to still be limited to 4.

Hey at least yall got the update :frustrated: ! I have removed, reinstalled and talked to support twice on the tele. I was told they are having issues and have to make some adjustments and I should be able to finish my download if I wait about an hour.
The changes actually do not sound that bad to me, it be will be interesting to see how it changes the play.

I can't see how anyone can think there is ANYTHING good about this 'anonymous' tables??? It's a total joke!!! Even if you're a level'1' thinking donk please tell me you make some adjustments on how you play hands vs. different player types.
imo, playing 'readless' poker takes out 99% of the poker & turns it into some video poker game (might as well be playing on Pogo).

The thought of playing on those anonymous tables sucks sooooo bad, I just can't see myself every playing on them ever!
I am glad I at least got the update though... I'll need access to cashier to take off every penny from there.

OK. Played 4 tables for 2.5 hours

I can live with the anonymous players and no notes - I'm fascinated by how that plays.

On the other hand, the new software is SLOWER than before. It doesn't outright crash, but it lags to the point where, you click call with your set of aces, 30 seconds passes, nothing happens, then you get folded and satout.

This is totally unacceptable.

Bodog, I expect better from you.

This doesn't feel like a complete rewrite; it feels like a new skin over the same buggy engine.

Well, I think the "all-site anonymous tables"sucks. I like to play a few hours a day. Mostly for fun, but it is more fun to win. I want to play the best I can. Part of playing my best and improving is observing other players and profitably adjusting my play accordingly. But if you can't take notes on players, that is all out the window. Plus, there are some players that I just don't want to spend an hour or two sitting with. Some players are just plain irritating. I like to play mostly sit and goes. When I see from my notes that a player tends to sit in on more tables than he has brains to manage, I bail out before the table starts. I don't want to be sitting there waiting on him to figure out that it is his turn on my table. I also don't want to have to deal with a moron who only knows how to fold or go all in. It helps to know that a player consistently plays any two suited cards. Then I know to watch more carefully for a potential flush. I certainly don't want to compare myself with top professional players. But we all know that they often draw on a vast history of their opponents. It looks to me like playing at Bodog will now be much like driving on the freeway with Stevie Wonder. Except now I am blind too.

I sent Bodog an e-mail telling them that I will be closing my account if the "all-site anonymous tables" is the way it is going to be. I will give them about a week.

I figured this out today. Was playing 4 cash tables, couldn't open a 5th. But then my $5K NFL Freeroll came up, so I could 5 table.

You can't 20 table MTTs that's ridiculous. It is a sick joke, because even if you played every MTT I doubt you could get 20 going at once!

I'd be surprised if they added that. In previous discussions with Bodog reps they were dead set against p2p transfers-claiming they were worried about money laundering. The all-or-nothing mentality baffles me. They could limit transfers either by amount or frequency or both to allow players the ability to trade with each other.

I hardly think $25 transfers between "friends" is money laundering.

One good thing about the update > there's overlay in many of today's tourneys. I'd be surprised if the guarantees don't drop down soon.
Personally I'd be happy to boycott the site til' they get rid of the anonymous table b.s. (well... I will be anyways)

Just played a quickie $3 + .30 there and am hopping on the bandwagon here. The anonymous policy takes the impersonal nature of online poker to new, unfortunate heights. Made me realize how much avatars and names add interest to the play (and of course information in many cases), as well as location. I can't even imagine what private games will be like in this format, where knowing who each other is has such importance on so many levels.

There was lots of moaning and groaning in the chat box, which is different now but not much improved.

Thumbs down all around from this former Bodog fan.

Now I totally feel everyone's frustration here but it isn't all that bad. It's an easy site for US players to deposit,play, and withdraw on. Yeah u can't use HUD or tracking software but hey you still can use your brain and remember player003 is a button raiser or player005 called my 3/bet with Q7o OOP, etc... Use a pen and paper if he or she leaves just start all over. This will keep u aware at the table, you can pay attention more and not just look down at some stats that have been computed for you. Yeah it sucks for the ones who really rely on HEM or PT3 but it's better than nothing. They could have did us like PS and Fulltilt and some of the other sites. I played my reg. SnGs and made my reg. cash 2day so my skill level didn't change because some software did. A donk will play the same with a username and pic for u to see or just a plain ole number! GL peeps and I'm with ya it sucks but it is what it is and if u sit at a table and u wonder who player007 is, it's probably me NEWTDOG101! lol Peace!

Just reading this thread makes me want to donk my little roll away there. (Not that that will be hard for me..lol)

If you play a live game where you dont have a note pad or anything, you have to rely on your memory to help you make decisions i.e." the guy with the hat and silly glasses just 3 bet a wet flop with bottom end of a SD". or whatever. At bodog it seems that any reads you get are completely useless unless you know that player 3 is still the player 3 from 10 hands ago. But if you play that same player 500 times, you still dont know from game to game if its him.

That just seems incredibly stupid to me. Online poker should at least remain poker. You should at least have your memory of a player to rely on. This is a new form of poker, and not one that interests me at all.
