What do you guys make of the bounty knockout games on Pokerstars? Do you have much success with them and would you recommend them to get your stack up and make some cash quickly.

These days PKOs are way more popular than normal MTTs on PokerStars. For instance in the early european morning hours there is a 5,5$ PKO called "Micro Pacific Rim" with a guarantied price pool of 2.000$, while the 5,5$ "Deep Stack" only has a guarantied price pool of 500$. Big fields and large pricepools are not nessesarely a goal it itself, but the more popular events will also tend to be the softer ones, since each reg can only enter a tournament once. Even the Sunday Million has been changed to the PKO format. So if you want to play MTTs on PokerStars, PKOs are simply, where the bulk of the action is.

Yes, without a doubt, knockout tournaments are very popular now. But I like to play regular tournaments more. There are fewer people going into all-in at an early stage. I played knockout tournaments for $ 2 and $ 5, a couple of times for $ 20, but I did not achieve serious success there.

I like the format. It's often a great way to get the buy in relatively early back without having to go through the bubble. It's nicely action-packed, strategic and a great change from classic No Limit Holdem.

I like them too and like to play them every now and then, but I usually play them in micro and am generally happy with them. You usually get your buy-in back very quickly and you don't have to worry that you'll lose your money in the tournament. Of course, sometimes things go wrong and you don't get a knockout and fly without winning anything. But this risk always exists in every tournament that you fly out too early. But if you manage to win such a tournament then it is simply wonderful you not only get the ITM share but also the ko's and that counts up quite a bit.

I still like to play regular tournaments too, i won't just discard them altogether. Bounties seem to be the way forward though they are just great value i think.

Yes this is where they offer value the most imo. Getting your stake back really early on and not having to worry about getting in the money (placement) if you do get in the top 20/10/5 then that's just an added bonus too.

PKOs are not "better value", since the rake is the same. But if you want to make money in poker, you need to go, where the recreational players are. So if the majority of recreational players prefer one format over the other, then that format will be the one, thats mainly played. And at the moment its pretty clear, that recreational players on PokerStars prefer PKOs over traditional tournaments. You can see it in the SnG lobby as well. The 11$ "on demand" PKO usually attract at least 120-130 players, whereas the 5$ "on demand" games often attract no more than 20-25.

I'm very confused :unsure::unsure:

You say that PKO's are not better value and then you say immediately after that "But if you want to make money in poker, you need to go, where the recreational players are. So if the majority of recreational players prefer one format over the other, then that format will be the one, thats mainly played. And at the moment its pretty clear, that recreational players on PokerStars prefer PKOs over traditional tournaments."

Was this a typo or something LOL

"Better value" mean, that the poker site makes something a better deal, and this is not the same as soft games. For instance any tournament with a guarantied price pool, which runs with a substantial overlay, is good value. But it might not be soft. Another example is R+A tournaments, where only the intial buyin is raked but not the rebuys and addons. They are also good value, because the effective rake is lower than other similar tournaments. But they might not be soft, if they mainly appeal to good players.

What do you mean by rake, is this what the tournament host makes? Also what do you mean by soft? Thanks.

I have now switched to fully playing tournaments with bounties. It is no longer customary to play without a bounty

Yes rake is the part of the tournament buyin, which is kept by the poker site. Sometimes also called tournament fee. On PokerStars when you buy into a 5,5$ MTT, 4,9$ is added to the price pool and 0,6$ is retained by PokerStars. Those 0,6$ is rake / tournament fee. Soft mean that the average quality of play is low, and this is of course a very subjective thing.

It's a pity that knockout tournaments without increasing rewards have disappeared. And so the game is for an amateur.

I think it is very fun to play, you can go to the top very quickly or leave one of the tournaments, it is a lot of luck and strategy in late stages, I like it, I am not much of playing them but I like the format

I like them, the little joys are worth money, on lucky days we get good money with them. But when fate turns, it frustrates much more. It's a game of greater variance.

knocked out 10 injections - get tickets to the freeroll with a prize pool of $10,000: knocked out 25 opponents - get tickets for 2 freerolls with a guarantee of $10,000 each time: ending with a victory of 100 knockouts - here is a present in the form of tickets for 3 freerolls with a prize fund of 10,000 each.I don’t understand the logic, knocked out 10 opponents you get 1 ticket, for 100 opponents you get 3? although I understand that few people will pay attention to these tickets
