Tight or loose? Which is more profitable in MTTs?

Which category more profitable in MTT? Tight or loose?
I play a freeroll MTT today and do an experiment, I play loose with 400+ entrants, from the start of the tournament I raise 4bet preflop everyhand at any position, at any blinds.. then adjustments on flop,turn,river. The result was "chip leader all the way" and finished 1st place. By the way, I'm a tight player, now a little bit confuse on which way to go, tight or loose. Being tight, I've never win 1st place.What can you say guys?

Tight is right. Especially in the freerolls.
In the higher buyin tournaments you can consider being more loose if you can spot the opportunity..

Don't play too tight. Increasing chip amount in the beginning is something to keep in mind.

The lower the entry the tighter you typically want to be. Because the more higher n higher you go up on entry the more people that actually understand the WHOLE aspect of poker are playing and typically wont be playing k4 just because it suited.

dont play too tight because the quicker you get your stack up that increases your chance of winning.

You have to impose, collect good results and you'll see that the game flows naturally without getting stuck or too loose.

I'm considering playing super loose at the beggining of free rolls. If you win 1 or 2 all in quickly you have a good chance of stealing chips from tight players and build your stack fast. That gets you a big chance of reaching final table.
But I wouldn't do that in other MTT's.
It's just that most freeroll players are usually so so bad and you never know what could happen. I also lost a lot of premium hands against stupid fishes that go all in every goddamn hand...
But that wah, either you loose fast and don't waste time, or you have bigger chance to reach final table.

Tight until I build up some chips then I take more chances.. Really tight at the bubble if low stack but sometimes I just go for it and lose.... lolol

I feel your pain on this one. Just busted out I raised pre-flop with AA and got shoved all in by a J4 and lost. Hey at least it was suited. With that being said free-rolls are a whole different world and take a complete different mindset to even play in.

Generally I play tight aggressive solid fundamental poke to start. You'll have enough people willing to hand you chips.

you have to switch your game from time to time
it depends of your stack,your opponents and the stage of the tournament
early with the blinds small try to play tight.later in the tournament you have to open your range and play more hands

It depends on the game. I think you have to be looser in freerolls as people shove and stack off extremely light

Tight is right. That doesn't mean that you should be playing tight all the time, you have to adapt to different situations and table dynamics which will come with experience.

Always (only exaggerating very very mildly) losing against the big stack no matter what my awesome hands are, so guess tightening up is what I have to do against them at least.

I try to play tournaments and already beginning to loose when the game is advanced blindly try to be so tight to minimize the loss of chips and opportunities of good cards. I say the bladed both.

You need to watch how the players play. if they play loose, you need to play strong hands. If players are playing tight, you need to play looser and steal blinds. better to play tight in the early stages of the game, and further expand its range of hands

I tend to watch what the average stack is. Maybe it's kind of weird to do so, but it keeps me aware of how far off the average I am. If I have 2x the size of the average stack, I know I can easily calm down and tighten up, however, if I have 1/2 of the average, I would be more willing to take risks, as I don't wanna put myself in a position where the blinds put a significant impact in my stack.

Also, I usually do a quick calculation of what the average stack will be at the final table (number of players * starting stack) / (number of seats at the final table). This way I know approximately how much I need to be able to sit down and, more or less, relax and wait for the final table.

Generally - TAG is my style, but I usually tend to loosen up at the final table. Stealing imo is key there.

Anyhow - that is just my weird way of thinking...
