What do you think about rebuys and add ons?

From my point of view I see it as something unfair because very out of how much you can access when you buy the idea of a game is to measure the capacity of each player because when buying or buying back we increase the bankroll and the favor of the table is inclined unfairly

I like playing with rebuys and add ons so it is possible to make a bigger stack, mostly when they rebuy during tilt. I prefer no add ons or buyins to be honest, knockout live tournament would be most my style. Like sit and gos.

I love them. Isn't it nice to be able to continue playing after suffering a bad beat. Plus it builds the prize pool. I am in favour of rebuys and add ons

I don't have an issue with Rebuys/Addons because it defintely adds to the overall Prize amount (usually close to doubling/tripling whatever it originally was) via the players that just keep going all-in and rebuy/all-in rebuy etc etc. Granted, it takes great patience to wait these fools out (or if having a solid hand call them and snatch a quick double/triple up).

Also, when it comes to no more rebuys (say 4 or 5 hands just before the end of it) it allows me to gauge if my starting hand would allow me to do an all-in and double/triple up just before the break. Then do the add-on. You could literally sit there until the break not playing a single hand, do a quick double/triple up all-in, do the add-on and be way up on chips.

I do agree however, that the rebuy period shouldn't be 2 hours or such. That is just way too long.

when i play live tournaments/freerolls poker in club its really annoying when ppl dont care about game cause they can easily make 10 rebuys, but in online i really didn't care about this

If they allow me to buy my way back to the table after I blew everything why don't they put a frekking fee to come back to the table with my folded pocket cards after the flop?

I guess everyone is allowed to like what ever makes them happy but rebuys and add-ons kind of ruins the sportsmanship of the game. And it's not that you would not need it if you are a good player. In some tournaments, you might work your way on the top and end up some 30k-40k chips and then once of sudden the guy with just 1k can buy 300k chips. In my opinion it makes things even in an unfair manner. At least if there could be at least more tourneys with no rebuys or add ons. I think the most important reason for rebuys is that the sites make a lot of money out of them.

i don't rebuy...it considerably reduces ones roi on a min cash...which is possibly the most likely cash after all if one does cash in an mtt.

add ons...maybe...if it would make a substantial difference to my stack in terms of BBs...but rarely.

I have never liked add ons or rebuys.Only a couple times have i did either one.In small byin games i think it promtes people to play wide open and just go allin with anything.

IF I can RB over 40BB and well over 1/2 of average stack I go for it . big field rebuy tourneys have such a high variance when your getting in there repeatedly short.even sub 30 Yes you may be profitable but the variance is insane.

i DONT LIKE IT. You worked your way to top of tourney then the rebuys and addons come and you cannot do the rebuys .Then your in the middle section UNFAIR

I like max stack of rebuy plus add on. that way if you bump into another one you can become super chip leader. It's almost necessary in those tournaments. I see it as: if its a 10 dollar buy in and add on I see it as a $40-$50 buy in. may rebuy with maybe a 2xrebuy and an add on. So I see it as a $50 buy in not a $10. however. It gives someone a chance to make a lot of money from only $10 if that's all they buy in with and keep doubling up without add on and rebuy.

If you play R+A tournaments, you should be ready to rebuy if needed, and you should always purchase the add-on. So you need to have the budget or the bankroll for that. If you are a serious player applying bankroll management, you should not play 2,2$ R+A tournaments, until the bankroll is at least 550$, since it is effectively more or less the same as a normal 5,5$ tournament. If you are a casual player applying a budget, then set aside at least 8,2$ for a 2,2$ R+A. That will allow you to rebuy twice if needed and still have money for the add-on.

Rebuts and up to umpteen level registration and unlimited reentry, makes the game last quite some time, say up to 6 hours and maybe more. $ earned per hour can be of very little value. Great for practicing patience and poker techniques, though.

I dont like rebuys, add ons, or hours of late registration. But thats how they make money and build guarantees. SnGs doesnt have any of that

Rebuys , reentries , add-ons ... basically the worst is the add ons , it makes you do it , esecially in splash kind of tourneys or satellites , so as to have the same chances with the others who have big stacks . The re-entry , if it's one dosn't bother me so much , as it takes you to another table I think , but it would be better without it .
The rebuy is the absolute catastrophefor a bankroll imo , especially if you get tilted easily. , I hope someday they prohibit them forever . The prizes will be less , that doesn't mind me personally , less donk shoves and shove festivals to worry about in satellites or first two hours of tourneys .

In reality though its mostly the blind structure and field size, which determine the duration of a tournament. Recently I took second place in the 5$ "classic" on 888 Poker, which has only 70 minutes of late registration and only 1 reenter per player. Which by the way not many people use. But seeing 222 entries, including around 20 reentries, and having 10 minute blind interval, this tournament still lasted 5½ hours.

So if you want something faster, then turbos and/or small fields like in SnGs are the only solutions. The real issue with long late registration is, that it pushes down the average stack size, and it gives people entering late an ICM advantage, which could be considered unfair.

I agree, that rebuying can be dangerious, if you have tilt issues, so limiting them to 1 or 2 per tournament can work as a kind of player protection. But its probably not important enough, that its something, we would want regulators to do. After all there are many other ways to burn through a bankroll in no time, like for instance casino games or Spin n Gos. On balance these are probably way more addictive and "dangerous" than MTTs with unlimited rebuy

Don't like it, it gives advantages to players with money, because of that reason I don't like re-entries too and smile appears on my face when on final table I see people without re-entries.

Well, this is how poker companies work and make money, As a rule I don't rebuy and very rarely add on.

I genuinely wish there would be no rebuy no add on and no late registration.

For genuine real poker, where people had the stress and caution to not gamble and all in with 38o, it would be absolutely necessary to not give the players these options, For skill based poker, these options are completely unnecessary.

If any of you know of any tournaments where I could play poker without these things, please advise me.

Both rebuys and add-ons are good only when limited. If you are going to allow them you should only have a certain amount for add-ons and one rebuy.

What do you think about rebuys and add ons?
