Update - I have a very serious tilt problem which I have to get fixed. Yesterday & today I ran really well but ended up wasting those sessions due to tilt & overbluffing.
Seriously though if I were to get rid of this my win rate would be excellent.
Will stop the sessions early if I'm satisfied with the progress so I don't waste it all by overbluffing & getting tilted.

Yeah dude, tilt is #1 bankroll killer IMO. It's really good that you realized it. I think most players struggle with it in one way or another, and that is why it's so difficult to be a pro. Most people just can't make it through the down swings without tilting off their entire roll.

Not sure about the A7, I certainly wouldn't be in a hurry to fold. He's a fish and could be completely over valuing Ax or any two pair. But of course he could have a flush and just be in a hurry to gii. Its close. I sometimes dont mind donating to a fish on a regular table if I know I'm going to be sitting with him for a while. You can view it as a temp loan. But if it's zoom I might be less inclined.

A8. Well he totally whiffed the opportunity to blow you off the hand on the river. When you have the A of the same suit as three on the board you can rep the nut flush and get most thinking players to fold. I dont like your turn raise here. Its too small to get a fold and if he shoves you might have to fold and not get the chance to draw to your hand.

Hey Alucard,

Having quietly grinded ZOOM over the last two years at 2NL, 5NL and 10NL, the biggest thing I've noticed is when I turn good starting hands into bluffs, I almost always lose. People tend to get very sticky with hitting flops with any pair that I've reduced my bluff range considerably and noticed improvements in my bankroll, even if it means giving up AKs but only having ace high on the turn.

Maybe it's me, maybe it's my style, but I find the only time I can get away with bluffs on a regular basis is on drawing boards that don't hit. And I've tilted when I've bluffed on dry boards with AKo, AJd, KQs, etc, and get called by calling stations with 3rd pair b/c they get sticky and put me on high card.

Regardless, know that you will get past your tilting.

I'm with Figaroo though on your A7 hand. There are a lot of people that float flops looking to hit scare cards to push players off hands, and even if they have the flush you aren't drawing dead.

That KK v 34d hand....yikes. Sad part is this that cost you a buy-in. But it's a good example of how you played the hand well, got your money in great as a 70% favourite, and variance kicked your butt. That's a bad beat that can't get to you b/c you win that 7 out of the next 9 times.

I’m not sure if you have noticed but your stack size has notable impact against unknown/almost unknown players. So when you are deep (villain stack size doesn’t matter) add some extra fold equity (so if called they are mostly a bit stronger). That is if you have tag stats, if more agressive, they read you bully.

But the zoom crowd is getting tougher & tougher man. Every goddamn player is 3betting from the blinds. It's insane.
I try to steal from the button but somehow they 3bet.

Don't put off reading Tendlers material. As Arni says "Do it, DO IT NOW." Honestly you won't regret it, it will save you money immediately and when you've finished you'll realise what a mental game fish we all were at the start.

If you have been caught bluffing that should normally be at showdown which shouldn't effect your red line, it would impact your blue line. Make an effort to study the hands Duggs is posting.

Target your bluffs versus the better players who know how to read a board and can fold. edit check their WTSD% before every bluff, if its 28 or over save it only for the very best bluffing runouts. If its under 23 you can push them off tons of hands.

The AK v 88 hand. That is the 4bet AK oop shove spot we talked about. It would be a tough call for 88 even on that board. You could easily have TT+. I posted one ladt week. Edit ,,,, I didn't see you were that deep, we should only be shoving at around 100bb

I did a challenge a couple years ago, where I played $5 NL on Bovada. I think I put in 15k-20k hands.



All I played pretty much was "Zone" tables. They are like zoom tables.


The strategy I found most effective was simply folding a ton of hands, and playing really tight. I found the same things you did, people extremely sticky with any piece of the flop, bluffing largely unsuccessful, and lots of 3b from the blinds.


Players are all anonymous on Bovada too. So every time you go to a new hand, your image is new, unless you have a unique stack size.



I just played tight, and didn't bluff too much in that format. Make hands, and hit them hard with value bets. Sometimes even offensive over bets. They all seemed to call too much, so yeah, we exploit that by making hands and just bending them over dude.




Just some thoughts I have on the issue.

AKK vs 88 yeah I know but both are 300BBs deep. I was really scared of a call there.
My bluffs getting caught are affecting the red line cause they don't call the bluff they raise it so I have to fold
Sometimes I use the bet fold line as well other than the check call line. I think it's better & more profitable. John is recommending the same. But these days my red line has gone really awol.

I'm with you on that range - that makes sense. 88 is a stretch but some players play any pair to go set hunting - and on a 9 high flop I can see how someone with that range would continue with 88 even with that flop bet.

KK into AA twice sucks big. But...nothing you can do. Skill, luck, whatever won't stop a stack going in if you end up in that situation. You kind of have to ignore that if you're talking the mental aspect - nothing you did, nothing you did wrong, it just flat out sucks. And eventually variance catches up and you get AA v KK twice in a session.

But my point is when you deal with a bad loss - not necessarily a bad beat - you have to go back through the hand and figure out if you played it correctly. If you did, you need to recognize that. Playing badly and getting rewarded is often overlooked - we tend to focus on the big negatives but often we play these correctly and can't get over the end result. Poker variance is a nasty thing in isolation but you have to look bigger picture to overcome the mental speed bumps.

This hand of mine from the weekend actually tilted me. I won the hand, but I was down roughly 70BB at this point before this hand happened. It tilted me because I couldn't get it out of my head after, and when I stopped my session shortly after this and re-played it several times, I think I totally butchered this hand which was what was bothering me. I was more concerned with showing him up and on my loss at that point rather than playing the hand proper. Thoughts???

This is very important point, I know most logically understand it, but somehow brains fail to really comprehend what it means: only EV has meaning

Bad beat for you just means that somewhere along the line someone else is feeling the ‘bad beat’ when you triumph with our 2 outers. A fun way to look it is that against bad beat, the lady luck is on depth to you, and she will give it back one day. Normally this balancing factor would just mean that you win your 70% hand, ‘like you should’, maybe even 3 times in a row
