Hi folks,

for me there is a significant leak @ cash game tables:
if you start with a buy in lets say 5-10$ and you play for round about an hour with little up but your stack stays nearly at the buy in level - then you have to ask yourself in how many cases you will loose ya stack when you play another our?

my fix is nowadays : leave the table earlier to save money because in 70% your stack is smelting.
in my opinion it is better to come back with them same stack another day or time and play it a little bit tighter or smarter than in the first session!
If you have a great run dont wait to long to leeave table, maybe there are some small pots where you loose 5-15% @showdown - try to leave table after that and be happy with ya net wins.

I think that one of the biggest leak is definitely not theory related but more about the fact that cash game have the tendency to go too stakes too big for them which will make them lose money

most people at the lower cash game stakes (and not only) have very little grasp about playing 3bet pots, either as the aggressor, or the defender. They have inelastic ranges, which in most cases are weak, and they call 3bet OOP with terrible hands. This leads to horrible postflop play.

-Fix:study solid 3bet preflop ranges and always vary your play according to opponents. Stop calling 3bet pots OOP with -EV hands.

I think you should raise your hands high so that only the players who really have a strong hand stay in the game.

Leak: BIG three betting Ax and, yes even AX as if they were always going to win and/or push others out of the pot.

Short Version:
Don't be overly committed to great starting hands that don't improve with the table cards
Unless you shouldn't be playing cards right now and have something else to do/or somewhere else to be while poker is detaining you

Medium Version:
Reading the players remaining in the pot and the street cards as they continue to fall should give you clear direction as to call, raise or fold.
If your not seeing your hand progressively increase in value with those community cards while you continue to call or raise may just result in you being pot committed with your whole stack to that lucky pushy player on your left with 72 off who donk hit a river boat that torpedoes your big set, straight or flush.

I feel like the best way to increase win rate in cash games is to deepen your understanding of position. Very importantly, we must realize how much late position can open up our strategic options. Learning when to raise with lesser holdings in position is also key.

Another thing that is not always possible in every situation that increases winrate is knowing your opponent. Don't just play the hand you're dealt the same against every opponent. Learn tendencies and rake pots.

I would suggest you should put it like this:-

Leak - No being able to fold big pairs etc, falling in love with them

fix - Even though you should make sure that something showing on the board, does not have the remote possibility and making notes on players should help.

Interesting thread and IMO lots of good answers we can all learn something from* I'll try not to repeat(at least not too much), what other member/-s posted...

Leak: many players still play way too tight(at least it feels like some people still want to know they have the Nuts before they put their money into the pot), playing like a 'NIT' in cash games(in mtts too) is over and waiting preflop for only premium hands to invest money and/or really strong hands postflop isn't working that well nowadays... people need to realize that a large portion of your winnings will come from running your opponents over and pick small/ medium pots where your opponents don't have anything and don't put too much of a fight...

Fix: study preflop ranges(if you think/ know you play too tight just look at different GTO preflop charts as there are quite a few available for free and you might be surprised how many other hands are profitable to play from all positions...), also, don't fold too often postflop and call a bit wider even vs. passive players(though in this case I'd say it's best to save money and just fold vs. huge bets...).

Leak, I don't understand why many players have more than 200 BB at the table. If you would stand up from the table, you have 100 BB or the stake for sure and could sit down at another table with 100BB. The probability of losing more than 100BB again is high, especially against opponents with 300-400BB which you often see with small cahs game limits.

Fix: If you win more than 50BB in a table session, stand up and go out and look for another table with a buy-in of 100BB.
