I downloaded it and ended up with three icons on my desktop. When I double click, none of them opens, but a little black "banner" appears from time to time asking me if I want to record my screen!!

So the one you want is on the left in this image. The other two are for video recording/ replay.

When you click on it, your cursor should change to a cross-hairs, like you would have in a shooting game.

When this appears, you put the cross-hairs at one edge of the image you want to capture. Holding down the left button on your mouse, you can then drag the cross-hairs from one side to the other and let go of the mouse, and it will click and the image will be taken.

You will then be able to paste that image where you want to by ctrl-v and paste it in.
