I want to talk about what Volatility means to slot playing this week as a quality post.

"Volatility" generally means how likely a slot is to play/pay depending on a variety of variables such as stake size, it can also determine your level of pay out as you will see slots that are marked as high/low volatility and many that will encourage you to increase your bet to increase the volatility of a potential award on each spin.

It is believed that "slot volatility" is built into the machine and bases the amount and frequency of payouts over time, its really important however to know that by playing a slot for an extended period of time DOES NOT guarantee you a win and is often referred as "chasing" especially if you are losing, this is where i strongly suggest bankroll Management, taking a break or setting limits - especially if you play online slots.

So in summary - a high volatility slot will pay out larger amounts but less frequently and a low volatility will pay out smaller amounts but more often. Remember people this is not an exact science and this is where the denomination you play (cost per spin), the RTP of the slot (return to player percentage) are factors to consider.

Happy slotting those who do - be safe and sensible!

ARRRR!!

For me, the main question is whether playing slots with play money offers better odds than when playing with real money. On most online slot sites, the mechanics are the same for both demo and real-money modes, but it’s hard to be certain without transparency from the platform. Some people wonder if the outcomes are truly identical, or if the site behaves differently when real stakes are involved. Personally, I always keep in mind that, ultimately, slots are designed for entertainment, and the house always has an edge regardless of the mode.

Absolutely agree that the house has an edge and ive seen many a time specific slots get "swapped out" or " discretion of casino" this is where the truth really lies, its a massive business Slots in casinos and if you were a owner - you want a trend of high payouts versus higher long term yield.
Theres a reason after all why certain slots get played more than others.
If a casino is losing of course they will react but slots are and always will be the unpredictable beast and thats the juice, the pull and attraction, nothing warms my heart more in a casino in seeing someone strike big with a few spins...

In my opinion, the main thing in this matter is to be realistic and not go beyond your limits. If you decide to spend $10, then it should only be $10. I have a colleague who regularly lost his entire salary and then regularly borrowed money from me for food, and this went on for years.
Yes I agree very much on that! Stay always in your limit(s) and never use money you can not afford to loose. This should be a rule of thumb.

The only time I played slots for money was in Vegas on a bus trip back from California. I dropped a few dollars in a gas station slot, obviously set at the legal limit low for payouts. I lost.

But when I play for free online, I still have only lost. I don't think there is any way to look at slots as profitable. I would only play them for very low limits (basically for fun).

My advice for slot machines try it out really slow/smart and with lowest stakes you can, so you can learn the game and see the possibilities if there
is a chance to win and if you also have fun if you loose 20 times in a row ;-).
Always remember not to play if you wanna win a lot - slot machines arent build to make you rich!
Long time ago i sometimes play free spins @Pokerstars casino - this was fun and i won some bucks but nothing big to build a bankroll there.
