I want to talk about what Volatility means to slot playing this week as a quality post.
"Volatility" generally means how likely a slot is to play/pay depending on a variety of variables such as stake size, it can also determine your level of pay out as you will see slots that are marked as high/low volatility and many that will encourage you to increase your bet to increase the volatility of a potential award on each spin.
It is believed that "slot volatility" is built into the machine and bases the amount and frequency of payouts over time, its really important however to know that by playing a slot for an extended period of time DOES NOT guarantee you a win and is often referred as "chasing" especially if you are losing, this is where i strongly suggest bankroll Management, taking a break or setting limits - especially if you play online slots.
So in summary - a high volatility slot will pay out larger amounts but less frequently and a low volatility will pay out smaller amounts but more often. Remember people this is not an exact science and this is where the denomination you play (cost per spin), the RTP of the slot (return to player percentage) are factors to consider.
Happy slotting those who do - be safe and sensible!
ARRRR!!
