You are playing blackjack and noticed that whenever a certain dealer leaves the table, you start losing what you've won when he/she was dealing. And whenever they come back, you start winning again.
What can you do? Stop playing till they come back? Or follow them to different tables/pits?

If that first dealer was holding the deck(s) in their hands while dealing he or she may have taken a liking to you. ;) Best not to follow that dealer around because that would probably be noticed by the floormen, pit boss, or eye in the sky and they'd wonder why.

I would go with that superstition, because I came to the casino to win eventhough the odds are against me, thats why I will ride on my temporary luck.

You need to talk to this dealer seriously, most likely it's a trap, and he's designed not only for pockets, but also for pants)

I have had this happen over a course of a few days Reno, my buddy and I won every time we had this dealer. So whenever she switched tables we would go watch basketball. I think it was just random luck, but we a left Reno with more money than we came with.

If the trend is positive, you should continue playing, if it is negative, you should either reduce your bets or stop playing. As far as I'm concerned, it's quite simple :)

So, staying where you are till he/she'd come back is probably a wiser decision, but refrain from playing or take pauses, and if you play, bet the minimum.

I started this thread because that truly did happen to me in the Borgata.
Whenever I had this dealer (George), I was winning. I might lose a hand or two, but overall, I always ended up winning. I would look for him every time I went there and only play if I find him.

I wouldn't believe it either, but it did happen. And even though it happened many times, I still don't believe that that particular dealer is /was my lucky charm. It's just randomness. But regardless of my believes, I did look for him many times 🤪🤣.

Fact: When I scored my biggest win ever in Blackjack, there were many dealers, but not him, not once.

That is pretty much what I'm saying. Your question reminded me of an anecdote in The World's Greatest Blackjack Book by Lance Humble and Carl Cooper. I probably don't remember the exact story but this is the gist of it.

A group of men were playing at a blackjack table where a young woman was dealing from a single deck. They were all making fun of her chest which, in the authors' words, was flat as an ironing board. It didn't take too long for the embarrassed woman to become tired of their insulting jokes. She kept her cool, but on the next hand she dealt herself a blackjack. After pulling in their chips she dealt the next hand. It was a blackjack, as was her next hand, and the next, and the next... until the men decided that it was time to leave. :)

People who deal and shuffle cards for a living often become very adept at manipulating the deck. If they take a liking to you they might throw some your way, if they don't like you they might give you the same sort of treatment that the men in that story received. ;) If that is what your dealer was doing then you wouldn't want to draw attention to her and yourself by only playing when or where she was dealing. Also make sure to tip by making a bet for her. :)

Changing tables when the dealer busts most of the time? Gives you a ten when you double down? A Blackjack every 3 or 4 hands? :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

That is so funny :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:.
But seriously, the important is the moral part of the story.
As to some dealers become adept at manipulating the deck, I have to say/admit that it's true.
I dealt cards for about 7 years. Mostly Hold'em and Omaha. And I can assure you that I could see the turn and river before burning and dealing. I never used that to any advantage, but when someone went in the tank for a bit, I would take a peek and know who the winner will be before the action and before the cards were down.
With a single deck, a lot of things can happen.

There be only 2 situations that these happen. True blue variance or deck manipulations. The casino cannot tolerate any tint of doubt (deck manipulation) as it risks their business for what... a couple of bucks? They take complaints seriously & would allow their cameras to be reviewed if there be any allegations of bad dealings. Just lay off the whiskey else be charged for a DUI (Dreaming Under the Influence). :ROFLMAO:

Me personally i don't really pay attention to such patterns so i think i would just continue to play as long as I feel comfortable no matter who deals.

I can’t afford to play blackjack anymore…back in the late 70s and early 80s, you could play blackjack for $5 a hand…I never played at any particular table because I was winning…I often stayed at a table because I enjoyed the dealer and/or the other players. When I was 26 and single, my buddy and I sat for hours at a table because the dealer was just drop dead gorgeous…another time the dealer was a frustrated standup comedian…he was hysterical!

I wouldn't consider it a pattern, so I would just continue playing as usual. I am a disciplined player and my results should depend on me and my luck, today there is one dealer, tomorrow there will be another :)

I think players who play based on the current situation have a better chance of getting good results. Basically, if there's a dealer you're lucky with, you should make the most of it and raise your bets. When the dealer leaves, you should lower your bets to the minimum. Why not give it a shot? It might just work.

I know man. The stakes went up now. But I'm sure there are still casinos where you can play for $5 or $10.
