What is ludopathy?
A term I recently learned.
According to Wikipedia:
"Problem gambling, also known as pathological gambling, gambling disorder, or ludomania, is repetitive gambling behavior despite damage and negative consequences. Problem gambling can be diagnosed as a mental disorder according to the DSM-5 if certain diagnostic criteria are met. Pathological gambling is a common disorder associated with social and family costs."
I think any kind of addiction leads to serious problems, but if you know how to stop (something that many don't know) and can afford possible losses, it's okay.
Fun should exist when it's not a burden on you and your family.

They could've called it Ludopatholomania and that's it :ROFLMAO:.

The thing is, no matter what it is, at a certain point, professional help must be obtained. The problem is when a gambler keeps living in denial and refuses any help.

Yes, the term doesn't matter! Since we don't have a button called “time to stop,” we need to be alert before the fun turns into a nightmare!

Fun fact , in Germany there's actually a button to stop. Sort of 😅 Any pokerroom has to to do it, was mandated by german gambling authorities.
If you click on it , you're blocked from any game for 24 hours

It might work, maybe it's time to think about seeking psychological help, right?
Some gaming websites offer a kind of “insurance” for betting and gaming, but I don't know how well it works!
Good luck!

No, me personally I have never heard of that! But thank you very much for telling us here on cardschat what Ludopathy is exactly.

Actually, as we said earlier, it doesn't matter what we call it, the important thing is that it's a disease and must be treated! Good luck!

That is certainly a strange term. I started wondering its origin and as most medical terms do, also this one probably originates from Latin. Google translate said that word Ludo in Latin means "I am playing".

There's also a board game called “Ludo,” do you know it?
Good luck!

Many people's lives have been ruined by gambling addiction. I had my critical periods too, but I was able to press the stop button. Now I only play freerolls.

We need to cultivate priorities and concepts of conditions of play when the game cannot affect financial, moral, psychological conditions and health...

Yes! It requires a lot of awareness, organization, rationality, and willpower!
For many, it can be very hard!
Good luck!

I have seen way too many with gambling problems. I knew 2 people with good jobs that ended up going to prison because they had to steal to pay for their addiction. I think they both owe close to a million to the victims. Can you imagine going to prison and telling people you are in there because you had to embezzle money to play slots or bet on football.

What a sad situation!
Common sense and balance are essential in life!
Good luck!

Gambling addiction and compulsive gambling are related mental disorders. It must be especially cool when they combine, because then the player becomes incredibly charismatic and brings joy and pleasure to everyone around them :)
Have you ever read about scoliosis? ..... Read about it, it's also very interesting.

There's no time to mess around with something this serious.
Good luck!

I know quite a few addicted gamblers, and I consider all of them to be people with certain mental disorders. They can be divided into different categories and assigned different names, but the essence remains the same. Addiction is addiction.

Yes!
And like any mental disorder, it should be treated as soon as possible!
Good luck!
