I am trying to play according to the strategy you described, but so far the results are not very good. Sticking to the strategy turned out to be much harder than I thought. Perhaps I just lack experience, but despite this, I will continue working in this direction. Thank you for the useful information :)

Basic blackjack strategy isn't about intuition, but pure statistics. Every decision (hit, stand, double, split) is calculated based on the long-term probability of winning or losing. For example, while hitting with a 16 against the dealer's 10 seems risky, mathematically it's better than standing because the expected value is less negative.

YES! A dealer drove this point home to me. He said, "If you are going to hit 16, you need to always do it " (when the math dictates that you should).
