Recently, I heard about smoking in casinos.
Players like Daniel Negreanu are bothered by it — he even tries to cover his face when walking through the slot and casino areas on his way to the poker room.

In the past, smoking was allowed even inside poker rooms, until it was eventually banned.

So, do you think the no-smoking rule should be extended to the entire casino area? And if that happens, would it affect the number of people who come to play roulette, slots, blackjack, and other games where smoking is still allowed?

I am generally against smoking in public places. If you want to harm your health, that’s your business, but I won’t allow you to harm mine.

Definitely ban it. Those who are willing to harm their health should do so in specially designated areas and not harm others. Moreover, I believe that fines for smoking in places not designated for this purpose should be as high as possible. I smoked for over 25 years, but now that I have quit, I find the smell of cigarettes extremely unpleasant, and people who smoke simply annoy me.

I only play where people don't smoke. I smoked for most of my life. I've had two heart attacks. Cigarettes have ruined my health more than anything else. Unfortunately, I realised this too late. I am definitely in favour of a complete ban on smoking, not only in gambling establishments but also in entire cities.

We have small rooms in the Casino to smoke.
Similar to those sad plastic cubicals at the airport dedicated for smoking.

Cold air via AC and cold smoke. Mhhh terrific combination lol.
I'd rater have a smoke outside thank you very much.
As a smoker I say to no smoking in the whole interior casino area

I don't think it will affect much. People are creatures of habit yes so maybe in the beginning. But we will get used to it...

When smoking was banned in public places over here , people went full Nostradamus foreshadowing people would go out drinking and clubbing less, ulitmately destroying the nightlife scene..,😆
None of the sorts happened

I have a habit of smoking, the truth is that doing it in places where there is no good ventilation should be prohibited, it doesn't cost anything to go outside and do it without disturbing others. Hug

Smoking is the sitter limping of real life, the only people that think its smart are the people doing it and it hurts everyone around them.

Here smoking is prohibited in all casinos.
Some casinos have a separate smoking zone structure for players who smoke in order not to bother nonsmokers.
i have seen people going in the toilet to smoke but many goes outside.
i literally don't like people smoking near me.

I don't know why all this fuss about/against smokers as long as there are designated, separated places for them!?
And would a ban affect the number of players who go to casinos? Definitely yes, at least for a while. That's why it's not enforced yet. Casino owners love money and would never take the risk to lose any.

As far as I know, that's what they're doing right now. You can smoke in a casino, yes, but not everywhere.

That's a little too extreme, don't you think?
Of course I would agree with you if we were talking about homes or any other establishments, but casinos? People go there to spend their money and have fun. You cannot restrict their freedom as long as they're only smoking in designated areas.

As a non-smoker, I would prefer to ban smoking in casinos, except maybe for some e-cigarettes. Most people spend a lot of time in casinos, and it would be a disaster for them if smoking were allowed.

As an ex-smoker for nearly 50 years I would think Casinos should designate smoking area's or ban smoking completely. It is a health hazard and dangerous for anyone to inhale the smoke. I started at 14 years old in and age they were starting to pull Television advertising for cigarettes but as a teenager I didnt pay attention. So i went on for almost 50 years. I have been without cigarettes for about 4 years now. Though I smoke one Stogie(cigar) a day, but do not inhale.

It may hurt business for a short while if smoking is banned. I think it will also increase business after a short period of time. non smokers will increase coming in the door. The smokers will come back ,if they are true patrons of gambling.

Peace
Tony

I don't understand how smoking can still be allowed anywhere indoors except in backward, third world countries.

I smoke, and if possible, I always choose smoking rooms. I can't imagine playing slots or roulette without coffee, cigarettes and alcohol. Of course, I am against bad habits, but only when it comes to other people.

I am against smoking in casinos. They can 'smoke' fake cigarettes with a nicotine tablet under their tongue, if they so choose!

I support the extension of the smoking ban to the entire casino. I don't think it's conscious to smoke next to someone who doesn't smoke and can't stand the smell. I think that if smoking were banned, there would be a lot fewer people. As far as I know, smoking relaxes; if they didn't have that relaxation, they would just leave after losing some money.

I would be clearly against any kind of smoking in any Casino since I don't like smoke and I don't smoke myself so i'm not a big fan of it.

Smoking rooms should definitely be separated. It would be better if smoking were banned altogether. Smokers should simply leave the premises and go somewhere near the rubbish bin to smoke.

I smoke myself, and I don't mind if others smoke. But in general, I think people who don't smoke shouldn't ruin their health, so such players should play games of chance in separate rooms.

The argument that players love to smoke and won't play if smoking is prohibited simply doesn't hold water.Ban smoking in all casinos.Smokers have adapted to bans in restaurants and bars. They will also adapt to bans in casinos.

I totally agree, smoking in casinos (or in any indoor space) really takes me back to those old “wild” times when people used to smoke in cafés, restaurants, and other enclosed places, and it was seen as normal. I don’t know how things are in other countries, but I’m really glad that in more developed and health-conscious places this habit has been banned for years now. It’s honestly awful to smoke indoors and breathe in all that smoke. I’m a smoker myself, but even I can’t stand the smell in enclosed areas , so I can only imagine how unpleasant it must be for non-smokers.

Extending the no-smoking rule to the entire casino area would be a great move, in my opinion. It would make the environment much cleaner, healthier, and more enjoyable for everyone. Sure, there might be a small drop in the number of players at first, especially among older patrons who are used to smoking while gambling, but over time, most people would adapt. Many modern casinos around the world have already proven that a smoke-free policy doesn’t hurt business. In fact, it often attracts new visitors who previously avoided the smoky atmosphere.
