Do you prefer online or live poker?

I personally prefer online poker. I’ve never played live poker in a big casino or a live cash game, apart from small home games with friends. Online poker feels much more comfortable for me, since I can focus only on playing well without external distractions, and I also like being able to play multiple tables.

That said, I think live poker in a major tournament must be a unique and unforgettable experience. Even if I prefer online poker right now, playing a big live event is something I’d definitely like to experience in the future.

Pessoalmente, prefiro o poker online. Nunca joguei poker ao vivo em um grande cassino ou em uma mesa de cash game, exceto por pequenas partidas caseiras com amigos. O poker online me parece muito mais confortável, já que posso me concentrar apenas em jogar bem, sem distrações externas, e também gosto de poder jogar em várias mesas simultaneamente.

Dito isso, acredito que jogar poker ao vivo em um grande torneio deve ser uma experiência única e inesquecível. Mesmo que eu prefira poker online agora, jogar um grande evento ao vivo é algo que definitivamente gostaria de vivenciar no futuro.

I have always enjoyed live poker and played quite often at various poker clubs in my city. However, first due to the coronavirus pandemic and then due to the war, I shifted my focus to online poker. Nevertheless, I hope to play live poker again someday.

Unfortunately, I never have enough time to play. I only play 1-2 days a week, and even then, not always. That's why I only play online. Online poker is fast and dynamic. Live poker is cool, but it takes a lot of time, which I simply don't have.

In the past I played live maybe once a week, very small stakes — around $5 buy-ins. It was fun and more about the experience than the money. Then the card house closed, and after that I only played online. The next casino is about an hour away, so it’s not really practical for regular live sessions and now I play only online.

Live poker has a completely different atmosphere. The social element, table dynamics, physical reads, and the overall experience make it more engaging in a different way.

If I had to choose purely for skill development, I’d probably say online. But for enjoyment and atmosphere, live poker is hard to beat.
