I think that it is a matter of priorities. In my experience, poker has never interefered with my personal life or any of my other activities. I tend to play at times in which I have nothing to do, and when silence rules my house, as it makes it easier for my to play.
Anyhow, there have been times in which I'm playing a tourney and a friend comes by. In that case, although I might be playing hard, I try to pay attention to him/her...

I would say that it affects my private life because I love poker so much that it takes up alot of my spare time when I'm not working. I don't mind this, because of my love for poker. However, I actually prefer trying to find a balance. Like going to work, then the gym, and maybe skip days here and there. I love poker so much that I could play every day, so all is good

I think that before the game you have to answer how much time you have and adjust your tournaments.

If you have 8 hours you can play normal tournaments;
If you have 4 hours you can play turbo tournaments;
If you have 2 hours you can play hyper turbo tournaments
If you have less than 2 hours, you can play cash games, spin & go, Sit & go hyper turbo.

Yes, basically I go to tournaments in the evening and I sit up till morning.
