Hey I am not sure if I am allowed to post this so admins/mods please correct me if I am wrong and I apologize for my mistake. My question to you guys is how many of you enjoy cannabis (medical of course) while you play poker? Do you think it affects your performance at all in Negative or Positive ways. Personally I am able to shrug off bad beats a lot better than when I am sober. Was just curious as to how other players react.

It's fine if that's what you choose to do. Some people drink while they play which is 10 times worse imo. So smoke away my friend its what the doctor ordered.

Used to not be a big issue for me walking past the group of guys getting high outside the Casino entrance and thought it was kind of funny at first watching them at the table.
But times change and I need to keep the lungs clean for work and get tested often as part of the job,so my only gripe is not to close to the door. Sometimes it slows the game down as the guy plays with his cellphone or is taking a brain timeout when the action is upon him/her.
Think it might help some but it for sure does not help a good segment that I sit with.

Oh , it's an interesting topic ! Once I saw the video . I played one guy . He was stoned . Played a cache . It was something incredible . In three minutes , he lost $200 . It was fun . So I think to play or not in this state, You decide !!!

First post here, but hey...might as well go all in....bad pun intended. One really needs to study the effects of cannibus on each individual. There are thousands of different compounds in cannibus....us humans even have cannabinoid receptors in our brain, much like dopamine receptors. The different cannabinoids each have different effects...from "couch lock" to a "speedy" kind of buzz...most of what is out there is a mix of Sativa(heady) and Indica(lock)...so just depends on what you get. The more medical cannibus is researched....the more we will know. Problem is that we can barely get any legitimate studies because everything is still "illegal"....go figure....big business doesnt want to see it legalized, especially big pharma...it does cure and treat many ailments. FACT....just do some research... ...in whatever capacity you are able to...lol.

It was really only made illegal to boost the black markets after the end of alcohol prohibition and to boost alcohol sales. I mean really, how many pot head fights do you hear about...compared to alcohol related fights. There are no alcohol receptors in our brain...all it does is kill our livers.

But to each their own...choose your poison....or medicine...whatever floats that boat in your hand.....

At our local weekly live pub game the break every 2nd level has been nic-named "Bake time" instead of "Break time". As far as affect on performance it only has a detrimental affect. like Ross rebagliati in the olympics. Personally I think the affects good or bad are greatly over exaggerated. I guess I could see it help me from playing too tight. Allowing me to make calls I might not normally, preventing bleeding out when the blinds are up higher.

One problem I could see is if a person got so used to playing under the influence, weed , alcohol or other. If the got into bigger tournys in more public venues where they can't get buzzed up, it could have detrimental affect on there playing.

I remember a story that happened long ago. ))
In one of the casinos of California during a poker game one of the players decided to make another rate portion of marijuana, simply because he has run out of chips, and very much wanted to continue.
I personally prefer to play poker with a clear head without the use of stimulants, and this I did it. Good luck at the tables!

you should never play with drinks becuase it can affect your judgement and money the law doesn't allow to enter contracts when you are drunk .

it all depends on what type of smoker you are and how pot affects you. I for one can take it or leave it. If I smoke before I play I do not think my play is affected but I definitely feel more relaxed which in turn, helps my game...
