I have only played MTT tournaments for about 3 years, but now, due to problems with unstable schedule, I have tried to play cache games at the lowest limits. Are there any players here who have switched from tournaments to cash games?

I played LIVE Cash before online poker, but I started with mostly SnGs, MTT,s and LH Cash online.

I switched to NLH Cash Online almost exclusively around 2007.

If you can't win in Cash Games, you can't play poker.

Free lesson number 1: Table Selection is key

Free lesson number 2: Player Selection is key

Summary: Find a good (or several) table(s) with players that make BIG mistakes.

If you don't have much time to grind, the cash game is the best option, however, MTTs are more profitable, due to lack of time, the cash game is ideal!

I tried it and nothing good came of it. I just concluded that cash games are not for me. But instead, I started playing more active Sit & Go tournaments, for 18 players. They don't take much time, and in general, this format has proven to be quite profitable for me.

The transition from tournaments to cash games is more difficult than from cash games to tournaments. In cash games, it is more important to learn how to play after the flop.

Most tournament players get demolished in cash games which are much more complicated. Typically they don’t realize that deep stack cash games are quite another beast. Every pot is about real money and not just tournament chips. At a 6-max table you can’t just rely on good cards. In fact cards are just 1/3 of the most basic cash game equation. If you don’t know the other two attributes you’re better of sticking to - yawn 🥱 - tournaments.

My tip is to pay attention to the weaker players, that's where your real gain comes from. In general, it will be difficult to play a small pot. Even so, try to play small pots when your opponent has some knowledge equal to yours or better.

Not me, MTT to the end. I do play cash only with bonus from sites.

I tried to switch to cash games several times, lost everything there, and returned to tournament poker again.

Transitioning from MTTs to Cash Games requires adjusting your strategy, mindset, and approach. In MTTs, aggression is essential to survive and build your stack, while in Cash Games, patience and a conservative approach are key, as blinds remain constant. The deeper stacks in Cash Games require a better understanding of post-flop play and pot control, whereas MTTs often focus on survival through pre-flop decisions. Cash Games also demand stricter bankroll management, as you can lose more in one session. Additionally, selecting the right table and opponent becomes more important in Cash Games, as opposed to MTTs where you face a variety of players.

I prefer the tournament.
I used to play CG, even then only for the rakeback.

I prefer tournaments also, but only because I'm too scared to play cash games. I think tournaments give the impression they are easier. Is it just me?

I personally prefer tournaments. But a cash game is nice every now and then.

Generally, I like tournaments much more. I really appreciate the strategy of hitting the prize zone in tournaments! But recently at the lowest limits at pokerstars I managed to increase my bankroll 7 times, playing in cash games only. So both variants are acceptable for me last time.
