SB checks, BB checks, UTG bets 90, UTG+1 raises to 300, Hero

you call, UTG shoves, UTG+1 calls, you request time and then call after careful consideration. UTG shows AA, UTG+1 shows JJ and sucks out on the river with a 4th J.

I run so bad at life. In the past two months, my cousin commited suicide, my sister got a divorce, I got selected for jury duty for the 4th time (I'm only 24, my mother has never been selected her entire life), I got my first speeding ticket ever, and I had to dish out $3000 for home repair after a tree fell on my house.

November is shaping up to be about the same. 3 days in and already my best friend's son had to have surgery because something went wrong with his circumcision which apparently is going to lead to a lifetime of UTI's now, and today I had to rush my nephew to the emergency room from school and he had to have surgery to remove his appendix.

**** my life.

I cry many tears for that poor boy. Seriously, that's like the icing on the tragedy cake.

If I see your life, I'll tell it to stop sucking for you. In the meantime, take some money from some smack-tards, it always makes me feel better.

This mini-plat run for that bonus is now officially wreaking my head after only 3 days. Well on pace though with 1,420 VPP's but in fairness its way too big of a grind to complete on nl$50 (unless i had no job) but well doable on nl$100, so looks like im going to take the plunge and move up. Cant play from Thurs-Tues this week either which will make a big dent.

On the upside running at 9.5ptbb/100 :) over the last 12K hands.

For anyone else wondering about the promotion see this PokerStars.com - VIP Level Up Bonus

According to the VIP rep in the "bad mans place" this is only a trial for certain players at the moment.

I reckon I have played over 500k hands this year. My current database only starts from March, which I have logged 443k hands. Prior to that I had around 80k hands but I can't confirm this as I cant get access to that DB as its on another laptop that is busto.

But fairly certain I have way more that 500k. Should get to around 600k hands for the year imo!

I want to start on cash games, I have just over 100 dollars in Stars but Im gonna start at the lowest limits. So I have a few questions if anyone can answer them please-

I have vista and want to dl PT3, do I download the database (postgre?) seperately?

Does anyone have PT3 running on Vista and do I need to anything before or while I install?

I played a little before and basically come out just under when someone called a bluff with 3 overpairs on the board, I am guessing bluffing is a no-no at the lowest stakes then?

What range of hands should I look to play?

Any advice, say maybe the one best peice of advice I could use at the micro stakes?

I have put this here instead of PT thread because this is a post I read daily and is mostly ring players.

Cheers!!!

To answer McClusky:

1) Not sure about Vista & PT3 but i think you should be fine downloading that "total package" download and installing it from there. You might have to scour a few Vista-specific threads on setting it up.

2) Bluffing at 10nl is definitely opponent specific, making the use of the HUD very important.

3) Play good hands. Steal if the blinds aren't defending.

4) For microstakes, 10nl and 25nl, follow ChuckTs's thread for playing microstakes. Basically a nitty nut-peddling style will win you a lot of money at these stakes.

If you're playing full ring: Make sets with odds, and get paid.

If you're playing 6-max, well, there's no one thing. You need a much more solid overall game, and you need to get good at playing small & medium sized pots.

feeling your pain. it's something you need to deal with for your whole life. Like here when you're 6, 12 or 18 years old you get to move to some kind of school (pre, primary, secondary) to another (primary, secondary, university) and all of a sudden you're not the senior know-it-all seen-it-all cool guy who rocks the place anymore but the junior guy who gets pwnd all over the place.

Luckily that feeling doesn't last long and soon enough you'll feel great about the new place and feel like a giant if you ever go down to your former stake.

What about when it happens a 2nl  , there is no place to move down to...

Okay whine over, I am going to pwn 2nl again and play 5nl (bankroll permitting) by the end of the month.
