In the beginning, I played because I genuinely enjoyed the game. The strategy, the psychology, the constant adjustments — it never felt repetitive. Every session felt different, and that challenge is what pulled me in. But over time, ambition creeps in. Once you start improving and seeing results, you want to test yourself. You want to move up, beat tougher games, refine your strategy, and prove to yourself that you can compete at a higher level.

I suppose both; sometimes I lose because of ambition and sometimes I win for the same reason; it's a cycle.

Poker is a unique discipline where success is impossible without a combination of passion for the game and ambition, but the balance between the two determines whether a player will be a professional or an amateur.Poker is about the love of the fight, the joy of making the right decisions, and the enjoyment of the process.

I play poker for fun and for the possibility of winning some money. Not out of ambition or passion, but in a relaxed and recreational way, like any other activity I choose to do. I also play for the pleasure of competing, for the adrenaline of strategic decisions, and for the thrill of trying to master such a complex game as poker.

No one plays poker without the idea of winning money, so I think one comes with the other together.

Do you play out of passion????
Or do you play for ambition????

Both are good but in excess everything takes its toll...

If you play for Passion: Let me tell you that you are enjoying each hand and different opponents to deal with, but you still manage to break into the top 10 and you are pleased to be one of those first 10 of 500, 1,000, etc.
Your focus is on having fun, seeing what rival times you have, dealing with aggressive, weak, floopers, etc.
All of this gives you experience without asking for it.

If you play out of ambition: Here there are two sides to the coin... in excess, in excess it doesn't do you much good because maybe at first you win play after play until that changes against you and someone with a better game eliminates you without a minimum of effort.
Your focus is only on the prize: you want to win most rounds betting exaggerated amounts just to intimidate your rivals and win as soon as possible, but suddenly... you are eliminated

The other side of the coin is the best because without ambition we would be stuck with the things you have, plus it's like an engine that drives you to want to achieve more.
I play for both.
I need to be frank and say that I came to poker purely out of ambition. But after getting to know the game in depth, I fell in love with it. If I win the lottery and become incredibly rich, I'll still play poker.
