No, it's not!! Only entertainment for a while. Good only for learning main steps in poker game by beginners.

unless we are talking about bets from 1 million, it just takes a long time to collect it back:D

I still dream of becoming a professional player, it's all about not giving up and knowing your bankroll management and of course not getting caught in the downsing periods, and the most important thing is to learn to endure defeats, then you become a the real winner ...

Yeah, just that you could go all in pre-flop with K4o in any position without a care...

I think so, but you will get real emotions only when you play for real money, whether it's a freeroll or a tournament for your own money. And I personally love this game for emotions. I think I'm not the only one.

When playing for conditional money, only a conditional skill appears.

I don't think it is representable of real poker players go all in in ridiculous situations because its not real money,Its ok as a basic learning tool for what the hands mean etc.

the problem is that an adequate game often begins only in prizes, respectively, it is the struggle for these prizes that often looks like casinogo or Russian roulette:(

will you play the same if you lose 1000 play money or 1000 real $? And will all players play the same way? This is the answer to your question
Yes to your first question, absolutely not for your second one ...
I know it's silly, but it feels good to be much better than the majority of my opponents, even though it's just about a number on my computer screen. :)

I don't play for play money anymore and, no, I don't think it's real poker.

But is it a real challenge?

Play-money poker is obviously a real game

but when you take away the risk factor of losing Real money
it changes the character of the game significantly

I've noticed that, even if it's just for a few pennies, people play more skillfully, and carefully than in Play games

Ultimately, I guess whether you can call play games "real", is a matter of personal perspective

I don't know, I've played against folks at the $1/2 NL live game that play worse then a lot of the play chip folks and I've played against a lot of the playchippers that play much better than folks I've played live, especially in stud at higher levels so it all depends on how serious folks take their game development and whether they just enjoy playing for fun or they're actively trying to improve it.

Then why do you find players who have played thousands (or tens of thousands) of real money hands practicing at PokerStars in play money MTTs everyday?

Play money poker and real money poker are completely different things. People who don't risk their money often do rash and bizarre things like going all-in for a huge stack or pulling out unthinkable bluffs. They do not think about their strategy, many do not even suspect that such a poker can exist in principle!
:angel::angel::angel:
And most importantly, play money players do not value their stack.:deal:

For me, playing for game chips differs from playing for real money in that when I lose my money, I make mistakes that depend only on me and I have to control it.

No one is saying play chips are always taken seriously - all one has to do is join some play chip cash games at PokerStars lowest levels to see what a farce it can be.

However, place yourself in some MTT's and you will soon discover people practice with intent. Then head over to Replay where the entire set up of the site is play money with player rankings, leagues, and a host of games that rival any real money site and the entire atmosphere is focused.

My issue is never with any member saying they dislike playing with play chips or that they find it a waste of time. My issue is with people either saying that it is a 'different' game or that no one ever takes play chip games seriously. Whether all concede the fact or not, it is the same game (with admittedly varying degrees of commitment) and many people do play seriously with or without money being on the line. That is all.

Play

Poker is Poker even if your betting with tooth picks.. but without real money at steak people do tend to play the game different and it will cause you to pick up bad habits that can carryover into cash games. So mind your play and may the cards be with you.

Play Money

I started out playing with play money...not much of a fan now...but starting out lets you get
comfortable with the tables and the flow of the game
