I don't think it should be compared to sex on its own, I think it would be better compared to a relationship as a whole.
You have your hole cards and you don't like the look of them so you fold. You have no relationship with these cards, they are done.
Perhaps you do like the look of your cards, so you raise, you put some money down on the table for these cards because you think it will work post flop.
The flop comes down, you start to build a bigger picture of what you could achieve and what is possible with your cards. You see there is a lot of potential so you call or raise, perhaps you slow play it because you don't want to ruin it, you check when you flop the full house. You don't want to give the game away. Perhaps you don't like what you see at all, the story that's being built isn't right, you don't see potential, things are likely to get worse, so you fold. Maybe you think things will be okay, you have Ace-King, it looks pretty, but with this flop it might not work, you call, hoping to hit on the turn or river. You let looks obscure character and continue to play.
On the turn, things start to get more serious, the story unravels and there becomes more possibilities. New things are revealed that weren't there before. You've got an open ended straight flush draw, things look really good, you raise and get called.
River comes down and its what you wanted to hit, you shove all in with the hope of taking the pot. Did you over estimate your hand? Or did it turn out exactly how you wanted it to. Did you beat everyone else, or did you just get roped into a waste of time and money.
P.S. I think the way you portray women as objects is wrong, only creepy desperate guys try take advantage of women, especially when they are vulnerable(short stacked) I just hope when you try shove all in against the short stack, you get called and they flip pocket aces and you get sent home because you bust your bank roll. Touché
