I just like the game itself. I don't force myself to play.
What keeps people coming back to the tables for years is the balance between intrinsic passion (loving the process, the challenge, the learning) and extrinsic rewards (money, status, social interaction). When the balance tips only towards money or ego, burnout sets in quickly. Those who endure cultivate the deeper "why": the game as an infinite mental sport.Nesehorn156 said:Most of us start because poker is fun or competitive, but what actually keeps you in the game over the years?
Is it the strategy and constant learning? The money? The social aspect? The challenge of improving? Or just the love of the game?
I’ve noticed motivations can change over time. Curious what keeps everyone here coming back to the tables.
For me it’s mainly the challenge and the constant learning. Poker is one of those games where you can always improve and think deeper about strategy. That process of getting better and making better decisions is what keeps it interesting.Nesehorn156 said:Most of us start because poker is fun or competitive, but what actually keeps you in the game over the years?
