In a normal tournament, folding kings preflop is almost impossible. It’s simply too strong of a hand, and if you happen to run into aces, that’s just bad luck and part of the game. Most of the time, there’s nothing you can or should do differently.

The only situation where folding kings preflop can make sense is in a satellite. If you’re already very close to qualifying and your goal is to secure the seat rather than accumulate chips, folding even a premium hand can be the correct play. In that spot, avoiding risk is more important than winning the pot.

Outside of satellite scenarios like that, folding kings preflop in a standard tournament is extremely rare and usually not correct.

With two kings in your hand, you always have to think that this is not a sure hand, there is an even better starting hand. There was an example of this when I was in the bubble and after a very long hesitation, I threw away the two kings. It's not a big deal, it's a rational decision. Play for hours without a cash prize, or throw away kings and reach the cash prize.

You don't really know what another player is holding, so it's not that easy to retire with a pair of kings.

I could never fold kings on such an occasion . On live poker I find it hard or impossible for me . But I have seen pros , very skilled players , with extensive experience, who are able to read the action and even fold kings in heavy preflop action , suspecting that AA might be in one of the players' hands

Folding KK preflop in MTTs is extremely rare, but it can happen in very specific spots.

The most common case is satellite tournaments, where survival matters more than chips.
Another spot could be a huge multi-way all-in where a very tight player 4-bets/5-bets, strongly representing AA.

Also near the final table with heavy ICM pressure, folding might be considered in extreme situations.

But in normal MTT play, KK is almost always a hand you go with preflop.

I just fold a AA in bubble scenario or Final Table against a Deep Stack for ICM.

Aside from AA (After all, we know that 26 of the 52 cards are Aces), which would be 'tougher' to fold for obvious reasons, taking into account how the hand played out and the objectives, yes, I would fold. That said, it’s easier said than done; for example, how many times have we at least thought about folding KK? Not how many times we've actually done it, just how many times we've at least thought about doing so... It's complicated.

I’m not sure if I smart or crazy like a fox but I never fold them pre flop (online) unless it’s close to the bubble I’m first to act with a smaller stack… literally the only time I ever lose on AA KK… online that is… and we all know how questionable that is…
