Poker vs Marriage

Does not mix well, as far back as I can remember this has been a problem for all of my friends and myself. When I played golf seven days a week was always gone as this was the drug of my choice back in the day. Wife complained I was never home so golf was put to bed and started playing poker and was always home. Wife complained again is that all you do now is play poker and I stated I am always home per your request as I sit in front of her everyday. Wife said you need a new hobby and I said I am working on it I am going over my new girlfriends house as she loves poker. Capo1014

I had a similar situation, before the first withdrawal of funds, my girlfriend was immediately happy that I gave her the opportunity to order the delivery of her favorite food, where after that she happily said that I can play poker on weekends and when she is at work, the rest of the time she wanted to give her time and spend it together. Since then, she has changed her mind and calmly gives a chance to try your luck and play poker to a good movie with a delicious mint tea)

I wish my husband loved to play Poker as much as I do. I think it would be pretty cool to dominate the game with someone you love (not by cheating of course). Unfortunately, he never really played it during his life and I am the Pokerstar of our family

I think your wife should be a little more understanding if you are really spending 4+ days with her every week as well as making a decent living from your winnings. As long as you are truly there when you are spending time together, I can't see why she would be upset with that. Maybe she is asking too much of you? Did she know about your love of Poker before the two of you were married? I could be wrong but it seems like you had worked out an agreement of when and how often you could play and overtime she became unhappy with it. She is allowed to change her mind of course but that doesn't mean that you have done anything wrong either. Just be completely honest with her and you will at least end up with some kind of solution to your problem.

I still don’t understand what your wife is not happy with? You pay attention to her, and she does not allow you to do what is dear to you ??? Does she have a hobby? Get angry with her when she does something that interests her. Let her understand your interests. You need to accept each other.

My wife complains about me playing poker all the time , in fact my 3 and 5 year old also complain … I actually complain about myself playing poker all the time. And this is really the main issue between me and poker , I just can’t put a limit on my playing time , I just can’t stop playing , as long as my phone is in my hand or find a free moment I just log in and play …

i believe for most wive's it feels like abandonment. no matter what the activity is golf, snooker, poker. whatever you are into,it is competing with them.
As for a solution........i'm still looking!

My advice to you is easier said than done. Try to work it out and have a balance with your wife and poker.

Hello all, I'm coming to get advice or maybe to everyone to tell me what I already know hahaha, I'm a successful and winning poker player, I'm a programmer too so in the morning I work in my software job and in the night I go to the casino and play 6pm-11pm but my wife hates it to the point she wants to divorce, the thing is, I only play Poker 4 days per week, the remaining 3 days I take her out for dinner or to travel somewhere, also one day I work from home so it's 4 days in total we get to spend time together and do things. also when I get back from playing we watch movies with some chips and beers, so I do actually spend time with her, poker is my passion, and I'm good at it, I could live from poker if I would want to, I have winnings that gives me a king life in Mexico, but she doesn't understand that, its time to break up maybe?

Being that I'm a women poker player and my husband isn't. The one thing that is truly a blessing for me is his support of playing. I can't imagine why it is such a problem if you are making time for both and still, she's not happy. I hope that you all can talk and work through this. There should always be a give and take along with compromise.

Difficult situation. But I think if your wife really loves you, she should understand your passion for poker. Either way, you are adults and you can always find a compromise.
