Don't take them well....

I don't cuss very often, but the cusswords fly when I get beat by a set of 5's on the river. I am usually losing a large portion or all of my chips when I get beat like that. Unfortunately, you ding the guy back if you are out of the tourney.

I love bad beats. I savor them. I recognize that without them, the game would dwindle down to just the good players. In order to keep bad players, bad play needs to be reinforced, and bad beats are the tool to do that.

QFT.

I play tournament chess as well, but you never get "chess donks" wanting to play for real money against solid players. That's because bad beats - if they exist at all - are pretty rare in chess, so the bad players quickly realise that they are bad.

In poker even the worst players will often get lucky against good ones, and that keeps the fish biting.

I'm about to go to sleep now; I just took a bad beat in a FT freeroll and there were 250 people left. I went all in with AQ off after button folded to me (5k chips- average was 12k). A guy with about the same size chip stack (5.5k chips) decided to call my hand. He had A9 off, and I was like a 70-25 ish favorite to win. It was Turbo, so the blinds were already up to 600, but still.. Guy hit the 9 on the river, after 4 harmless cards before.

I did win with AK today though! I kept playing catch-up, and AK helped me survive two all-in situations when I was down to well below average stacksize.

Depends

Somtimes, i just can not believe how bad the beat is and i get too pissed. I will just keep going all-in over and over again. Smaller ones, i just take the beat and play my game. Wait for a good hand and hopefully win the chips back.
