lol i like the less common yet true abbreviations. i am glad to know that i know about 90% of what you were talking about. i have been playing for 5 years now and i still need to learn more. glad to see someone posted this so i could understand what the abbreviations are.

Not sure where to post this but I need a nuts and bolts lesson on how to study my hand history. I am playing the fun steps at Carbon and BCP and need to learn how to study my hands for the future. I know that there will be erratic play at these games (some of it mine :") but I would like to get the discipline down for the future. Please advise. Thanks

Before anything else, i would like to thank you for this nice post.

Nevertheless, i don't agree with some of your definitions, as TAG and LAP. If a player play tight, it is not agressive, as well as a loose player isn't passive (i think....)
However, there are some terms i still don't understand, so if you could help me, i would apreciate it.
What are "ring" games? And about "multi table" and "single table" tournaments? Aren't all single table games???

ATM = Free money!

If a player is called an ATM, this means he is bank for a player! You can get a lot from this type of player because he has a ton of money and is usually willing to pay you off just for the fun/love of the game. He does not "grind" he just plays for fun, almost knowing he is going to lose but does not care because he is a "tourist" just trying to have a good time

The best thing to find is an ATC ATM

For the ones who wanted to know what G2G means:

It means got to go as in 'I have to go'.

Ie. G2G = Now that i have your money i intend to keep it.

I'd add "Highjack" for newbies as well. That is the position 1 right of the cutoff (or 2 right of the button).

I love this term. you raise from this position intendend to litteraly highjack the button and be last to act on future rounds. i've also heard it called sniper... maybe becuase its an inconspicuous position to try and steal the blinds from.

Broadway cards are 10-J-Q-K-A. They make the best/nut straight. Not all are created equal.

You might consider an all-in with AK or maybe AQ but I really wouldn't consider something like Q10 or KJ a good all-in card. This is in a sit and go or MTT setting also. I might use AK as a all-in in a cash game but I would need to know the other person is a huge fish.

If 3 or 4 players went all in I would fold everything but AA in less I knew 1 or 2 of them were complete nuts

I believe it means "all in on the next card" but I'm not sure...anyone know?

also, a few to add...

"wired pair" means in a stud game when you start with 3 cards, a wired pair means both your hole cards are a pair, as opposed to a "split pair" where your up card matches one of your hole cards.

"rolled up" also refers to stud when all 3 of your starting cards are the same = a VERY VERY strong hand. "I had rolled up tens" as in T,T,T

Jam= usually means to go all in, but in a limit game it means to raise any bet relentlessly up to the betting limit for that round.

Brick= the next card that comes doesn't help you or your opponent.

A2345= the wheel or bicycle or a bike

Well, I have one that I think I invented and that is the "trike" that is when you are playing either razz or stud-8 and you are dealt 3 cards to a bike.
