As you push hours and hours to play MTT, before you put all of your chips its worthy to take a look at the payjumps, maybe there's only one/few people who had to be out, and this tactic can give you a valid payjump. I also do this as a psychological move as well sometimes, not to push over and over my whole stack in, sometimes left a minor amount in front of me.
In addition as you have a timebank, you can use it whatever you want. Its not the most ethical thing to use it to get into the hand-to-hand situation, but I believe its not always avoidable, As I said, many hours can affect your decisions in such a ways.
