16 squares --- 8 small ones, 8 double the dimensions of the smalls.

There are of course numerous square-like shapes, but those have intersecting line segments that negate the "squaritude" of the geometry. e.g. the L shaped pieces, with the addition of a small square, could appear as one double dimensioned square, but it really is not a square, it is two separate geometric figures.

Unless this is shown on a screen with square pixels. then of course there are thousands upon thousands of squares.

Try to look again! The observation skill is very important. It can make you a more perceptive person. If you find it necessary, take a piece of paper and list all the squares, this will help you.

a) 40

b) 41 if this is a trick question and there was an attempt to make the blue background a square as well.

c) 42 if you can include a border in the shape of a square.

d) 43 if it includes b and c from above.

Creative ways to think! You had already done this puzzle before?

My answer is 56
1 - the black border containing the whole pattern 4x4
18 - medium Black border squares inside the large square
8- tiny black border squares
9 - squares combining 4 squares together 2x2’s
4 - 3x3’s
16 - aqua blue squares
Totalling = 56

Thanks again Acidburnfx :)

This border that you are counting as a square is not exactly a square. Look again, it's just 2 lines, right? Anyway, it's an interesting way to think about the puzzle.

Hello friend I saw it many times and came to the conclusion of 16.
Am I right.
Glgl.:ciao:

The puzzle is also not so simple as you are thinking. Remember that we are dealing with logical reasoning and it requires a little more of your perception capacity. Now look again and see if you are able to solve it.

I have serious doubts! I think most people already look in the comments before taking the test, as it often happens on news portals and social networks. :D

1---4x4- whole picture
16-1x1- 4 columns, 4 rows
8---1x1- in middle of picture
2---4x4- in middle of picture
9---4x4- three in each section of 2 rows x 2 columns
4---3x3

So after I take about twenty minutes or so going back and forth counting and recounting and coming up w/40(or double that if you wanna double the count cuz of the thick borders(which wouldn't be double but since that's all wrong anyway, it doesn't matter.lol)), I come to the conclusion, I done messed up.

Not all the "squares" we think we're seeing are squares. I believe our minds are just filling in the voids for us when need be.

Lemme count again, I'll be back.

I'm going to go w/17. FINAL ANSWER.

1-- black border of puzzle
4-- bluish squares down the right side
4-- bluish squares down the left side
8-- bluish squares in the center

Did I get it right, did I, did I? Huh, huh, huh? Did I?

I think this is a trick question. You can only see 16 squares, or 17 if you count the outside border.

In the middle two columns you can only see 8 small squares.

I'm probably totally wrong

40 if you count just the black lines.

56 if you count the full blue squares (uncut by a black line)

80 if you count a black outline squares and blue inside squares allowing for the black lines to cut a blue line

81 if you count the blue square its all on.

This is a feature that truly unites all great poker players, because a good observer can make a difference at decisive moments.

Are you a good observer? So, tell me how many squares we can observe in the figure below.

Let the games begin!

When do we get the answer?

I agree with the people that said there are 40 squares assuming you are counting only the black ones.

Did you already know this puzzle? I already explained above that the border that you are counting as a square is not exactly a square, because it has only two lines. Anyway, it's an interesting way to think about the puzzle, because this already demonstrates that you are a good observer. :)
