My name is Carlos, I'm 23 years old and I want to get better at poker. I have 4 hours available a day to study and play, and I would like some advice
When I started, the biggest improvement came from keeping things simple and disciplined. I stopped trying to play every hand and focused on solid starting hands, especially in good position. That alone saved me a lot of chips. I also learned not to get attached to hands — folding felt boring at first, but it’s actually one of the most important skills. One thing I wish I had done earlier is
study preflop ranges, because knowing what to play from each position makes every decision much easier.
Another thing that helped me was accepting that I wouldn’t win every session. Once I focused on making good decisions instead of chasing results, I became more patient and less emotional. I kept stakes low, reviewed my mistakes, and tried to learn a little bit every time I played. Over time, those small adjustments made a big difference.
