I could easily deposit 100 USD and start playing with that. But for the sport I am trying to build a bankroll from zero on Pokerstars. I'm not a pro and I'm not intending to become one. I got ITM in the cardschat freeroll today and with a few dollars I have now from freerolls I'll probably start to play some 0.02 or 0.10 SNG. Should I? Or should I wait a little more and continue playing freerolls until I have at least 10 USD and then start playing micro tournaments or micro cash games? What do you think?

I've found it useful to wait till I am over the $10 mark before branching out to more tournaments. Every time I try to make a run at it when I am below the $10 mark I end up busting my br.

I think if its something that can be profitable because you have a clear edge on your opponents go for it! See it as a learning opportunity if you go broke. You can always get into the money on a freeroll. If not and your still learning I'd take your time

Sounds like fun! Good luck! Especially if you're just enjoying the hobby, you might as well earn your way there!

I've always enjoyed building bankrolls the hard way myself as'well.I think if you got a few dollars you can start playing some of the small buy in SNG's and continue with the freerolls as'well.

However you choose to play, be patient. It can be a long journey from $2 to $200.

There certainly is a much greater sense of satisfaction from building a bankroll from freerolls as opposed to just depositing a wad of cash and playing.

I personally would want to wait till I had a little more than $10 only because it will allow for more margin of error/variance/etc.

But keep plugging away at the freerolls and one day when you have thousands in your online account, you will feel really good about the fact that it literally started from nothing.

I'm doing it the same way. Currently I only play freerolls and if I have some more dollars, then I will start playing micro SNGs :)

Hello.
I believe that the most correct will continue to play freerolls. You do not lose anything, on the contrary, you gain experience and your bankroll will gradually increase. It makes no sense to pay money for what you can get for free.

From my experience I can offer several options
1. Tournaments SNG with buy-in 0.02 or 0.10 $;
2. Save bankroll by playing on freerolls, then play cash games on micro-limits.

At the moment, I'm building up my bankroll through freerolls and hopefully also through the PokerStars School where they give you a few free tickets if you've never deposited before.

I do remember I built a bankroll from less than a dollar win from freeroll and raise up to 100$ in a single day playing SNG and some knockout tourneys. but in the end few buyins brought me back to lower $50 mark. Good Luck but be careful in choosing the games.

I think any player is always still learning but the game in freerolls might not always be the same like the games for more money I also think.

I feel I am missing some opportunity then to make more money than you can in freerolls.

Yes, those were the two options I was suggesting as well. Thanks

So I think the trick is not too start playing too fast on higher buy-ins or cash games all the time. Thanks

Good luck, actually never tried the poker school. One reason is I already play more than 12 years live games with friends and think I don't need it or do you think it is still interesting?

You'll probably know the stuff it's trying to teach you - from what I've seen so far, it has a few informative videos. You get a few School pass tickets and $0.10 tickets from completing it provided you haven't made a deposit before. So for me, it's a free chance to try and build up a very small bankroll from absolute zero. Might be worth trying even just to test your ability playing online without risking any of your own cash.

This is a great idea. Freerolls are a good opportunity to start a poker career. Good luck to you.
