Well Understood!

This is great advice. You put some serious thought to this. You are so right and obviously have played a lot.

Nice article and some interesting responses in the forum.

There is something about succeeding with slow play that makes a really nice feeling inside. I am sure you know what I mean. To slow play and watch other opponent(s) play into the pot thinking they have the better hand is something magical....when you actually have the best hand and were winning all the way!

Its interesting to read the views of others who either do not like to slow play, do not know what it is, or who slow ply in the wrong places.

The thing to remember is that the decision to slow play or not is just ONE of the skills and tactics that you can use playing poker and it fits in with all of the other things such as situation, position knowledge opponents play etc.

Keep thinking and keep working on your game.

I read the article twice and finally realized when I should slow down the game, and when I need to speed up the game. But I did not find the answer, how to act and what to do when the enemy begins to slow down the game? If the enemy played aggressively and suddenly began to slow down, everything is clear, it will warn me, and I will fold to save my bank. But what to do with a passive player, for whom it is not clear whether he slowed down the game or simply does not hurry anywhere.

Only that the opponent can also know the knowledge of such an article and deliberately can play in such a way that you do not recognize whether he has a good hand or bluffs

I like to know my opponents when slow playing. I will sometimes slow play a big suited connector or maybe a range of pocket 8's to JJ to get a reaction and table read but most of the time, unless I am familiar with the players, I like to keep it standard.
So for me "slow play" is rarely utilized. I am kind of old fashioned like that...LOL

I only slow play in some very specific situations. I either need to have hit a monster hand on a flop that was unlikely to have hit anybody or I need a very aggressive player acting behind me who bets/raises with very marginal hands. In both cases, you have to be especially careful of letting anybody "catch up" to you on the turn or river. So, you need to have high confidence that your hand will hold up. Over pairs and two-pair hands don't generally hold up well when you are potentially giving your opponent free cards. Even a set can be vulnerable since your opponent may hit a straight, flush or a higher set. If you think about it, slow playing is actually counter productive to our goal of winning a big pot. If you want to build the pot, you have to bet. If you check all the way to the river and then just toss in a puny bet, that really wasn't any better than just firing away on the flop. I seem to be the most successful just betting the flop regardless of whether I hit a monster, a decent hand, a mediocre hand or nothing.

I am a slow player, sometimes I slow too much and do not extract the value of the pot. Against agressive players and C-Betters it is very usefull the slow play, but against calling stations or at very conservative players does not work the slow play mode.
Very good the board to slow and fast play with strong hands.

Article is very good. I mean very very good.

I liked how they explain to slow play you need the right situation or circumstances and it explained why.

I see plenty newcomers think that every time they flop a monster they should slow play and end up getting run down or miss out on value.

Excellent article, talks a lot of what I think, poker is a game of people and not of cards and period! we must observe the attitude of the players and play fast you end up playing only for the cards and that's not how the game works, you have to observe more to know at the right time to act and when you take a different move you will surely know how to act.

I have to say about position I use to only consider the aggressiveness of my opponent and sometime about the dry and wet board but did not usually think about position is really important if you're IP or OOP is clear to me now thanks to this article I will definetly will be putting this in practice

I sometimes bite it, and it depends on the oponent, the board, the stack ... I mean, I used to have some bad experiences when I slowed down, with very few percent chance, the player gets me. But I'm not ticking, but I'm continuing with my game.

It's best to slow down when not dry board. One hand does not make a poker: :) The position is very important and reading the opponent

i will usually never slow play except when near the bubble in a bigger buyin tournament holding a small stack, and running my time down. I always slow play a few hands when im at a table with a player that is constantly running the clock. This usually gets that player acting faster

Heads up after the flop....Just like in that picture showing AA someone was slow playing on my table with pocket AA"s only call flop comes someone bets then AA raise opponent reraise pocket AA's shove all in for like 180 he gets a Call opponent flop two pairs 95 of diamonds and AA's Lost.... That's when you don't slow play or play AA's like that if your not ready to fold at least don't shove when you get reraise.

I slow play my made hands into aggressive players that just don't know when to stop betting
I let them do the betting for me and laugh all the way to the bank (inside of course) I love it when they do it love so you can see the reaction on there face when they see there beat it is so funny when you flop over the nuts and they been betting into you like they have the nuts. I have such a straight face they can't get a read into me so they just keep throwing chips into me when inside I'm thinking to my self thank you sir keep on betting. I check rasie when the guy has no clue and I know I may only get so many street of value out of the guy but if he get stubborn then I'll let him continue betting for me.

good subject with this article, the poker player is characterized in two way an aggressive player who plays next in the hands and a light player, who plays only premiun cards, and it is interesting because the way to play can be the two way depending of the tournament format if it is turbo or is slow, since in turbo lanes you can not play slow, in the first hands you must get chips and know in which pocision to play more frequently and try to steal the opponents, and the other way are the slow tournament that there if we can study more or the players and know when to attack, but poker is so the variance and the style of tournament is that it defines one as a player

I don't think I could have said this any better. There's a certain satisfaction with ending someone's night when they go full tilt or just play donkey aggressive. I for one, particularly enjoy switching to a table that has the young, aggressive tourney chip leader who has already gone all in a dozen times already and he has no idea who I am. You bait and switch and mess with them quietly. Me eat bullies for breakfast!

The last tournament I was in I slow played broadway on the flop, got it all in after the river paired the board with 10s. Opponent shows pocket queens for the full house.

That was the start of a pretty bad night.

Never say never I hate slow playing good hands because they turn to a nightmare (badbeats) when I do it exception is playing against a Maniac or a loose aggressive player where I let them do the betting for me. I give them the rope and they just hang themselves.

As always, very good article. Based on the bad experiences I've had with that type of game I can say that I do not recommend slowplay, since many times to go with a slow game or minimum bets the opponents follow the flow and end up connecting the Nuts on the river. Do not rule out that sometimes also has given good fruit, that's why it's good to know with what hands you can do slowplay. I prefer to bet strong.

excelent article, this is one of my favorites skills, slow playing is beautiful when you hit a set in flop against loose player, the key is no use slow playing in any hand, because you may lose big pot, also do fast playing in good position is profitable. Thank You CardsChat.
