I started playing poker recently after registering on facebook, some of my friends online invited me in Texas HoldEm Poker...... And i simply got hooked on the stuff....
I learned from books, then playing online freeroll. With the money won, I usually play SitNGo, low Buy-in tournaments and some cash table ($0,10/$0,25) Hold'em NL
I learned from friends. we used to play baseball, 3 and 9s wild,4 gets an extra card. I learned my first game to max out my bets with a A showing and steal pots. My very first poker game I won $30 ....been at it ever since!!
Hey all - just signed up and eager to be a part of the community!
I learned to play Hold'Em over 4 years ago. Learned from watching TV (watching the old wsop's, back in the days when there weren't 6000 players in the Main Event!). Also learned just by playing for play money online - started out playing on PokerRoom then branched out from there.
Then started playing at family gatherings where I learned even more, especially from my uncle who's a dealer. Now I'm a part-time dealer as well as other members of my family (not at any casino but for fun-nights like corporate parties and such) and have continued to learn through that. It's kinda cool and interesting meeting all the different types of people and players through this biz.
i learned how to play poker at home. I won alot of home games but can,t seem to get it going at online poker ......................but i,m working on it
I played 5 card stud forever ago with my Grandma during the summer. Man she kicked my butt on a regular basis. She really taught me alot about patterns and tells when I was really too young to understand but I rely on alot of the stuff she taught me now more than ever.
I'm one of the sad people who learned watching the WSOP a few years ago. I learned more once I got online and played at FTP, but I first learned hold em from TV. I know it's sad but its true!
At first my mother and step father played the ole 5 card draw with me splitting up the change in the house, that started to fiz, lol I didn't play again until I got married and forced my husband to play in a local club promotion (u guessed it he forced me to play too) from there we were invited to the home games and eventually online. Now my husband gets mad because he can't get me to stop!!!!!
I was familiarize by poker game by using the actual cards with the old guys back home but I really knew how to play poker online with the tutorials and tips. And oh...for beginners I recommend tops-poker
I learnt to play at home with my parents and have been playing since, but I have only just learnt about online poker and it is different.
I agree with Pat just playing is better then reading in theroy there tips/hints work sometimes but then it depends on who you are playing.
I have no idea when I first learned a thing or two about poker... was a kid and saw my father play a lot of different card games. Didn't really find a love for it until I played a few times with my drunken friends somewhere in my 20's... of course there were no strict rules at those tables. I got bored one night and wanted to play some poker and joined up with BetZip been sorta addicted to poker ever since.
Started watching my kids (Well they were 19 and up by that time) who were playing on line and with their friends at our place -- looked like fun -- i was used to playing solitare and it was getting pretty lonely -- when kids were young once played a video game and because i liked it too much -- swore off them -- refused to play because with young ones time was needed other places -- kids older now so when started on-line play money had great fun ... sent in some money ... of course lost it ... now trying to build a bank roll with freerolls .. learn alot reading articles on this site
Thanks for being here !!! Goal one day to be knowledgeable enough to enter a casino tourney
Watched Poker superstars II when i was ill off work and ever since have been hooked.
Started with the play money 45 man tourneys on pokerstars and then started freerolls and free no deposit money play.
I learned to play on full tilt poker...for some reason i download the just play money site...not sure if its .net or .com....anyways...i decided to download again i saw a real money section
ive started to play some freerolls....lemme tell ya ...lot of fun playing for 4.5 hours to finish with 2 bucks! lol
As with many I suspect, my first exposure to NL Hold'em was on ESPN (WSOP) , then I saw the TV ads by PokerStars , signed up on play money , progressed to real money ....the rest is too painful to tell ....
When I was 6 I played 7 card no peekie with my grampa a few times then oh and he took my pennies, showed no mercy. And then I got ino it from watching holdem on tv. I learned playing with play chips.
