My Uncle and Cousin started playing in tournaments. They always talked about holdem and how much fun it was. After hearing their excitement for the game, I decided to look at tutorials online. It wasn't long after that I incorporated pot odds and outs etc. into my playing style.

I learned when I was a little kid. Played with a few of my friends and some old guys in the neighborhood. We played nothing but stud and draw back then. I made a ton of money playing drunks as a teenager. Didn't learn how to play Hold 'em until just a few years ago...learned from people I met online but we played live. I learned Omaha & Razz on full tilt and 2/7 triple draw on pokerstars.

I started really young. gambling came about when I was 15 first off with Rummy and then progressed into poker. We all had jobs in high school so every weekend we would play poker till the sun came up. This was back in the 80s before holdem was so popular. We played a lot of variations ofstud.

Lost $10 to my buddy in my first game. He could probably hold his own in 10NL at the time. Can't wait to play him again, it'll be a fun rivalry.

Took a trip out to Idaho a month after that first game and brought Doyle's little book with me. Took the kids out there for about $30 and was hooked ever since.

Since then I've built small bankrolls from freerolls at a variety of sites. Unfortunately my dirt poor BR management led me to overextend my bankroll and lost everything. Back to freerolling I go...

...the BR management articles here have taught me a lot since then, but a bit too late! =D

In high school some friends and myself would play .05/.10 NL (change poker) for hours in a friend's garage. We'd play hold em', omaha, some variations on both, and even some variations we made up. Sure the limits were small, but we played CONSTANTLY, and always had a blast. Great way to learn tells and basic strategy

I read "Internet Texas Hold'em" by Matthew Hilger, and then played .50/1 limit on Pacific. This was in July 2004. Ahhhh. The good old days. Does anyone remember when US players could use neteller?? Good times indeed.

I learned to play gradually over the years. First it was just a way to kill the time when we had small get togethers as teenagers. Then I saw Rounders and started really getting serious. I learned from Rounders basically, that I was the sucker :) I'm pretty good at live games, okay online. I learn something new each time I sit down.

a friend of mine turned me on to the online scene about four years ago and ive been hooked ever since. i had never played cards before so i played play tables and freerolls until i got a better understanding of the game and than finally made an initial $50 deposit at party poker. since than i have played at numerous sites including full tilt, absolute, stars, and ultimate bet. ive finally managed a decent bankroll on bodog and my love for the game just keeps growing.

When I turned 21, my dad and mom took me to Vegas. I had played poker as a kid now and again, and knew the hand rankings etc. I was not an experienced player by any stretch. My dad and I sit down at a 7 card stud table ( no holdem back then lol ) He tells me, if u have nothing on the flop fold. We paly a few hands, and I flop a full house. Not sure how to react, I bet a small amount, and this older lady raises me. I call, she raises, I call, u get the drift. When she loses, she becomes irate! Just like Phil lol I had no idea what she was so upset about, but I was a happy camper. Won a cool $100 duckets, and in 1981 for a 21 year old, that was a nice chunk of cash! lol :D
