GGPoker has already received a license to operate in Ontario. For example, it was initially assumed that online gambling would be available only to Canadians, but from any province or territory, and citizens and residents themselves would be prohibited from playing in rooms and casinos with an international pool. However, during the preparation process, the restrictions were revised, making them stricter: only residents and residents of Ontario can play in the province's pool, and access to international gambling companies from there will be closed.
This! It's so lame. While it is true that I play (and subsequently learn about) generally the same people that play the same tournaments that I do, it is ridiculous that Ontario residents are forced to play such a small pool of poker players - this impacts tournament variety, frequency, etc.

Hi there!

Sorry I did not see this until just now. No, I have not yet played in Montreal...I hope to, sometime later this year! Make trip to see Les Canadiens play as well.

Come on up my friend, we have great places to play poker here in Canada and it is tax free. We have a few casinos here in the east with smaller fields tournaments, but the playground in Montreal is the best place for us in eastern Canada, they have bigger guaranties. There are some big guaranties in Alberta also, I haven t been there yet but heard they are very good also. Hope to see you here soon.

In Toronto, Woodbine Race Track has poker in the casino there. It's OK, but does not have great atmosphere...same for Casino Rama in Orillia, 90 minutes north of Toronto...but at least it's live poker.
My wife hosted her Canasta game, so I had to get the hell out of the house…I went to Woodbine casino to play some $1-3 NLHE…had to wait almost an hour to get seated at a new table…I started with $300, $50 of which was a birthday gift from my grandchildren…second hand, I’m the BB…get dealt pocket aces…under the gun bets $150, button calls and I go all-in for $300, button calls…AA hold up, and I’m up $430 right away. I played some KJ, A5 and QJ hands to whittle my stack down $100…all in all, I played only three hands to the end in two hours of play, as the players were very aggressive…AA, QQ and again AA…went home with $633 profit…I enjoyed winning, but I still don’t like the ambiance…I really only get pleasure playing live poker in Las Vegas or other casinos while on vacation…and no Rama and Casino Niagara don’t qualify as vacation spots.
