How many mouse do you break in a year while playing poker?

My father tends to break things when angry, and he is angry quite often. Sometimes, the fact that the thing broke infuriates him even more—there is a feedback loop. Then he breaks another thing or he breaks the thing until it's FUBAR. When you channel your anger into destructive things, you usually make matters worse (sometimes by several orders of magnitude).

Since my father gave me so many bad examples, I hate this kind of behavior too much. To do this myself would be extremely hypocritical, so I try my best to avoid it. It's not easy—sometimes I do hit things harder than intended, but these things can take a beating. I wouldn't hit something as fragile as a mouse. No matter how angry you are, I believe that there is some amount of control. Even my angry father avoids hitting something way too expensive. I don't understand why people break their computer peripherals while playing poker, especially when the affected peripheral isn't the reason for their suffering. I still don't hit them even when they are the main reason, though.

Why not? My first, cheap mouse turned 18 years last month. I used it extensively for 6 years, without any problems. Then my brother adopted it. It's still being used by him 12 years later (he is more of a mouse user than me too—I click a mouse button about 5 times less often than I press a keyboard key). During the last few years the mouse started to malfunction, of course: my brother had to repair the cable twice; the microswitches had to be cleaned a few times due to double-clicks.

My second mouse was even cheaper than my first. It was a disposable mouse intended to supplement my freshly bought laptop temporarily. I was supposed to use it for just a few weeks, but these weeks turned into some 4 years. During that time the RMB started to fail: holding it down resulted in repeated clicks. It was fixed after the cleaning of the microswitch. Although the mouse is still working well, I retired it because of its bad shape—my hand was getting numb.

My third mouse is my current one. It's about 8 years old and it endured millions of clicks. Nowadays, the side buttons may require a harder press to fire. Once, I had to clean the microswitch of the left button due to double-clicking. That's normal, considering how more than 90% of my mouse clicks are LMB clicks. The mouse's feet are pretty much worn out now, but my mouse pad compensates. The most annoying problem I have at the moment are the occasional mouse wheel scrolls in the opposite direction of scrolling. It's nothing that cannot be fixed by cleaning, I guess, but I am too lazy to do that now.

In fact, I bought a fourth mouse almost 5 years ago. It was a newer model that was supposed to reduce any problems related to mouse feet and misfiring buttons. Unfortunately, the lower quality sensor and the terrible Lift-Off Distance make it a much worse mouse than my 3rd, so the 4th sleeps in its box unused.

was cool to see that 90% do not get that mad and understand that it just hurts your game.

I never get so angry that I break my mouse, keyboard or anything else.
I remember a case about 10 years ago, when I was studying at the university. A friend of mine was playing counterstrike, and when he was killed, he hit the wall in anger and ... broke his arm.
Therefore, be calm while playing!

Generally, I am curious, how often and how much do you spend for computer equipments, related to playing online poker? What do you buy, why?

Within a year, I spent about 180-200$, mouses, head-set. Never would buy the expensive silent ones, if I wouldn't play poker regularly. (Fortunately, the hard-drive had guarantee.)

Have you ever broken any tech, comp stuff because of poker made you upset?
(As I 'executed' one of the mouses, because of some unbelievable river 1-3 outs 'bad-beat' series...)
