I've never played live besides a couple home games. I started and have continued to play completely online.

I started to play online. Used to play live a few times, and not in 2020 because covid's situation. I guess the mos of people has the facility to start online, and some of them never will put a feet at the poker club.

I started at home poker games. But Online first over brick and morter casinos. I like live better because I like to observe the other players.

Sure I think a lot of Poker players started on-line before they set foot inside a Casino. I started playing on a game site called Pogo and played for points, mostly 5 card draw and Stud poker, But then realised that you could play for free on real poker sites and win cash, from there you can learn the finer points of playing tournaments and ring games.
Then armed with this type of information you can start to feel more comfortable playing Live games in casinos and clubs etc. This is how I started and through Pub Poker Leagues have won free-rolls in Casino Tournaments, and visited quite a few different Casinos in Manchester, Liverpool, Blackpool and Coventry all here in the U.K.
I used to dream of playing in Vegas just to visit places and Casino's where some of the biggest names have played. now at my age it might never happen but dreams are the one thing that can never be taken from you.

When the fun Stops, STOP!

Yes.

Most likely, this is true. In the era of advanced technology, it is easier and easier for a player who is beginning to learn the basics of poker to find information online. And not everyone has the opportunity to play live. This is both the financial side of the issue and the location of the availability of the gambling industry

Is it better to start playing live or online

It does not matter to me as long as your playing. Doyle Brunson said the best way to learn is to play.

No poker rooms anywhere near me, so online is my only choice unless I am on vacation. During the height of the Texas Holdem craze years ago, there were illegal poker houses everywhere, but they were shady, and I never tried going to one. They were often robbed or busted by the police.

Before the coranavirus, there were freeroll leagues at local bars, where you mostly one gift certificates for the bars and league points.

To answer your original question, I don't remember if I first played online or in person. I think I learned the game over 20 years ago.

I have been playing for about 10 years. I allways played live in casinos. Mostly tournaments.
Huge difference to me. At a live table you can learn the opponents tells. Can get a better felling as to what they will play with. There is no feeling like being in an international live tournament with 2.000 or more players. Such as wsop, EPT, and others.
I have only started playing online because of the pandemic. But dying to get back to tourney in Vegas, Bahamas, Europe etc.

Of cause it is. For example, in my country it's hard to play live. I have never played live for real money.

I think it's true, it's much easier to start playing online than playing live, because you don't need friends who are as fond of poker as you are, you just need to register on the site, and you can play any minute and even with all the comforts. I believe that people in most cases start their poker journey from online sites.

Not at all, they're different games. You see a ton more hands online, which can help you in live poker, but implementing the exact same strategy live is going to be incredibly boring for you (unless you're playing tournaments)

I started playing live and I really liked the game even though there was a supposed friend who cheated us, and there I fell in love with poker, then you went to the games at that time super expensive, and then I started playing poker for Internet and thank God I am doing well, and here in the forum I like to read the other impressions and opinions and you learn more every day.

poker is like the rainbow comes in different colors

I started playing online and continue. Where I live there is no place to play and my friends don't play.
