In the long run, bots can bring decent profits to their owners. However, the poker community is actively and mercilessly fighting both the bots themselves and the "bot breeders", since the use of such software is illegal.poker bots are an evil in the community that needs to be exterminated. They can be compared to poachers who fish with nets or electric fishing rods. They go fishing illegally, destroying the underwater world, preventing amateur fishermen from enjoying their vacation on the shore of their favorite lake.

Yeah, bots are a real issue on some sites, and they can definitely mess with the game. Most platforms are working to crack down on them, but they can still slip through sometimes. It's frustrating, but hopefully, the efforts to fight bots will continue improving.

Bots are everywhere.

They took money out of the population 15 years ago. How advanced do you think they are today?

Earned 3.8 million through poker robot – goes free:

"Five people walk free after building a poker robot that recorded around SEK 3.8 million. The persons were charged with fraud and convicted in District Court – to be freed in court. A statement that now stands, after the Prosecutor General has chosen not to pursue the matter further.
In total, the persons, consisting of five young men, including a resident of Uppsala County, will have built a poker robot. A program designed to play poker entirely on its own – without human intervention.

8.2 million rounds of play

15 different accounts were set up and 8.2 million game rounds of the poker type Texas hold'em were played. Partly by the people themselves, but also through the poker robot. In total, the robot has raised a net sum of SEK 3.8 million during the year that the five individuals used the robot. Primarily, the robot played at lower deposit levels on both Swedish and foreign poker sites. The robot began construction in 2007.

25,000 opponents

It is estimated that 45,000 opponents have met the robot, 25,000 of them lost money. The case was raised in Södertörn District Court, where the five were convicted of aggravated fraud and aiding and abetting fraud in 2012. A judgment that was later appealed to the Court of Appeal – where the five were acquitted.
The district court judged that the 25,000 opponents the robot had not met knew that they met a robot, which had been misleading, and sentenced the five to a fine and conditional sentence. The money earned would also be forfeited.

Acquitted in Court of Appeal

But the Court of Appeal made a different assessment, because they meant that the opponents' chance of winning was not less just because they met a robot. However, the Court of Appeal also argued that the proceedings had been misleading, but not so much so that there was no basis for the five for fraud.
The defendants, and now acquitted, the men claimed during the two trials that it was not proven that the opponents disapproved they played against a robot. Although they may not know they met a robot. This is because the group made recordings of rounds, where they themselves informed opponents that a robot played, which according to them resulted in the opponents actually sitting further at the tables – than if they thought they played against a human being. However, the district court considers that this cannot be taken into account.

Wanted to drive to HD

After the acquittal of the Court of Appeal, the prosecutor chose to appeal the verdict, and wanted to pursue the case on to the Supreme Court for a conclusion.
The case was then handed over to the Prosecutor's Development Centre in Stockholm for preparation, which in turn has concluded to the decision not to send the case to the Supreme Court. Development centres write in the decision:
“The goal is relatively extensive. In order to allow the case to be taken up in the Supreme Court, the case must therefore be delimited appropriately. Even on the basis of the Court of Appeal’s assessment, I believe that there are several uncertainties that mean that the possible legal issue risks not being assessed.”
The Development Centre, in turn, chose to pass the matter on to the Prosecutor General, but underlined the hesitation to send the case to HD.

Prosecutor closes down

The Attorney General writes in his decision:
“The objective, which is extensive and partly marked by the evaluation of the evidence in the case, is not suitable for review in the Supreme Court.”
The five men go free."

Maybe that's why Pokerstars took away all the freerolls because they wanted to use their bots for more profitable work. etc Bots do not earn money in freeroll tournaments .I'm talking about the bots that pokerstars uses to wipe out players.

Poker sites use complex bots and a chain where bots collect money from players with a rigged RNG, it happens very simply when a bot collects money from players and then loses it to another bot, so it is difficult to track where the money goes, but in the end the money flows back into the poker site's account. To make it even harder to track, it happens irregularly.,,,Many people know that this happens, but there is a lack of evidence, because the game of poker is such that you can find simple excuses for any situation.Poker sites know this well!Everything you need to know is here, good luck!

You're only talking about bots used by players, but bots used by poker sites are even more dangerous because that means you'll 100% lose your money. It is not enough for poker sites to just take 10% of the rake they get because it only covers promotions, losses ,,,for example, in tournaments where the number of players does not reach the guaranteed amount and refunds to attract new players. etc

One by one the backgammon sites closed up shop many years ago because of bots and the same thing is now happening with poker. They should never do away with the chat feature like some sites have done so they can run their bots

I have played against a lot of bots, they are very easy to identify with a HUD. Just search your database for players with identical stats through a large amount of hands.

Bots have been around for more than a decade. Next step is the AI bots. They could kill online poker. However this is in nobody’s interest and the poker rooms invest heavily in software to detect and ideally eliminate bots. Where there is money there are crooks and cheaters. The battle will continue - probably for longer than we would like to imagine.

What numbers did you gather to have sure it was bots?

I think I was playing against bots on PokerStars. At least I got this impression because these players (I won't write their logins as I'm not 100% sure they are bots) don't react to chat messages at all, don't use animated items and play every day in every tournament.

They have been around since the beginning of online poker! When a poker site starts up there’s not enough players so they run robots to keep tables going!

Seems like the poker sites let the players get their share of winning (in order to not complaining) till they have their money wiped out at once.

In the era we live in, these bots are definitely everywhere, of course no one will admit this statement, but exactly as someone said before, and what if there are, as long as you play correctly and responsibly, I think we shouldn't have any fear of these bots, in the future I wish you good luck at the tables and play responsibly.

When I play against Spraggi or Tonkaaa or even Luckyfish, in his favorite Sunday Million freeroll, I'm sure I'm playing against human. The rest I don't care about...

Some bots are owned by poker players , some others by poker rooms . In any case it's very tough or impossible to play against AI software or bots . You cannot win against them . Only if you use dame arsenal , bots programs, real assistant etc . Maybe online poker should be renamed as scam poker , nowadays this is more true than ever
