Use VPN. Does not cost that much and your cents are safe.

No. It is better to use a secure connection.

PokerStars doesn't allow VPN. Other sites may not allow it either. So be careful, or you could face a ban.

Never

Just because you're at a wifi hotspot like a StarBucks doesn't mean you're actually connecting to the StarBucks network (even if the network name is StarBucks Guest or whatever). It is easy enough to place a portable hotspot in the same area, give it the same name as the legit one, and just skim all traffic.

Having said that, there is no such thing as security anywhere, at anytime; not your home hard-wired and definitely not a public hotspot.

Never try to use public wifi without a vpn. I think if you have any devices which are connected to the wifi network you absolutely need a VPN, because if someone will get into your network, they will be able to control your gadgets. I am always using Nordvpn security no matter where I am, better to be safe than sorry. I have a subscription for a long time now and I am pretty happy with it, they also have a great Christmas discount, you can take a look here https://nordvpn.com/coupon/deal/?coupon=XMASOFFER

I think it is safe. Although in our time you can not be sure of anything at 100%

I play poker only through a dedicated line of internet. I use WiFi connection very rarely, usually only when I have problems with home internet.

My opinion

I think it costly but safe. The people around you think they brought you luck ad want thier cut. They say thats why you got the luck. Its usually a chick twenty dollars to three to twelve people. Three for Jesus. Why cause it saved you money. Twelve cause it one for each of the twelve tribes of Isreal. You do this on a site that you can afford to lose like Blackchip poker because you have ACR. Just in case of a nark that accidently sees you play poker.

No! There are plenty of free WiFi networks - yes, even at your favorite coffee shop - that don't use leading encryption technology...The reason?! It's expensive to have a secure network...Even though there are good intensions, they are unwittingly putting their customers in harm's way...

In this regard, I have an additional question.
If I have free Wi-Fi enabled, is there a threat to my login and password on the poker site?

The only advantage of using public WIFI is that it is unnecessary to pay for it, and if you are worried about personal data, it's better not to do it.

I never use public Wi-Fi for anything sensitive - such as logging on to any site/App that accesses my money, bank accounts, credit cards, etc. Your best bet for these types of transactions is to use cellular data.

VPN seems to be an alternative in some cases, but not if the poker site is going to ban you for using it.

It's not absolutely safe but most likely nothing bad is gonna happen. Still I would recommend to change your passwords every time after connecting to a public wi-fi hotspot.

Ibelievemany public wifi is not safe. Only a couple years ago it was easy to login directly to the default admin login in a number of businesses when I was in various small business in the CT and NY (just where I am located).

Ex. Pizza place had public wifi. I was able to connect but got no IP address, so looked it looked like I was not connected cause you can't access the internet without an IP address. I Added a static IP and I was now on the network and internet. Then I logged into the admin console (not hacked) because the default mfg login credentials were in use. Router manufacturers are learning from this as often times you are forced to change the default login creds now however, we are not even talking about true hacking vulnerabilities yet.

In October digital trends put out the following article:

https://www.digitaltrends.com/computing/83-percent-routers-vulnerable/

"... In testing a total of 186 routers from leading manufacturers … over 155 were vulnerable to potential cyberattacks …"

Technically speaking as an IT guy who plays poker :)
Generally, public wifi is not safe !

The most dangerous thing that can happens to you is that the hacker can get your username & password, even your email password (if you browse your emails on public), currently many casinos doesnt allow to withdraw unless to same deposit person ! And emails send warnings too on suspension login!
But if were thinking that the man in the middle can read your poker hand, well that is too far to happen :)
