Why isn't PayPal a deposit option?

I do think there or a few Non Us sites that take paypal. But I think it has to do with the laws in the US.

Those countries or places I mentioned above have legislation (laws) in place for online gambling. Making it legal to gamble online. I am sure it is regulated and persons there may have to pay taxes on winnings. The license for a poker room must be accquired by them from the government in order for them to legally operate think of it as you would think of a liquor liscence.


All other countries apart from those above has either laws saying it is illegal to engage in online gambling or there are no laws in effect pertaining to online gambling in effect at all. Most countries fall into to category of no laws or legislation. In countries with no laws some view it as technically legal. Other persons and organisations (Like Payapl) take the perspective that no laws mean that it is illegal or no laws mean that their operations can be vulnerable.


Example of what I mean by vulnerable - lets say a poker room does not pay a payment processor their fees, in one of the countries with no laws a judge may rule he cannot make a ruling because there are no laws, meaning the payment processor cannot use legal means of recovering funds.


Like with most things laws does not mean that games do not exist, People and organisations do not always follow the law thats why online gaming is still avaibable almost everywhere. People will still engage in it until the governments step in like they did on Black Friday in the US.


I like most live in a country with no laws for online gambling. Even the physical gambling laws here are not clear and industry is not regulated and the laws are not really enforced. Since Black Friday I do not leave funds in Poker accounts too long. Once I run up a certain limit I withdraw and store my bankroll elsewhere. Because when there is no legislation you never know when another incident like Black Friday can occur.

I think the distinction is even more subtle than this. Didn't the US actually have anti (online) gambling legislation in place long before Black Friday? That was just the day that they decided to act. It's like that nebulous pot law dilemma where it's legal in the state, but not Federally, so as long as no Federal authorities wreck the party, the pot is legal.

I thought this was the case too, but it turns out it's not a blanket global ban.


I can definitely use PayPal to deposit into my Australian sports betting accounts, for example. I don't remember that always being an option though (I probably would have used it back when I first funded some of the accounts if it was available) so it's possible it's a recent change?

Some of these places I never heard of.
So if you are in one of these areas you should be able to use Paypal with the above sites.

So I don't know where exactly that list comes from... or what you mean by "licensed online gambling" really, but I don't think it's correct or complete in either case.


First of all what do you mean by "licensed online gambling"? Are you referring just to poker, or to all gambling (including sports betting)? Because there are a lot of countries (including mine, Australia) that have legal, licensed online sports betting but not online poker or casino games.


Second even if you just mean licensed online poker there are a heap of countries missing from the list: France, Germany, Finland, Greece, Ireland, Norway, Spain, Sweden and more come to mind, and that's just in Europe.

Cool, thanks Joeisi for trying to clear things up, but there's still one piece missing from my mental puzzle on this matter.

I cannot speak to other countries, but I know what Romania's government did and it falls into the category of countries that are licensed for online poker. I said this in my previous post too. A few years back, all online poker sites were closed to Romanians because the Government passed laws saying that any poker site that wants to run in Romania needs to apply for a license, thus paying taxes. Since Jan 1st 2018 I think, we also have a new law that we, the citizens, need declare and pay the VAT tax for any income resulting from online gambling (poker, sports bets, slots etc.)

So this is where I'm confused. Though my country falls in the category you mentioned, it isn't on your list and it poker sites do not accept PayPal as an option.

Maybe Payapl have not added them to the list as legislation is recent as you stated above. I don't really know.

Maybe my information is outdated and incorrect. I just share information I have available and hope it benfits someone here.

I remember times ago I could deposit to 888 with paypal, but not withdraw. it might be suspect, but as you can buy paypal acc's on the darknet WITH money in it, I don't even want to investigate more money laundry at it's excellence

Alright, but it does seem safer from that perspective than PaySafe cards. Stolen credit cards used to buy PaySafe cards then used to deposit on poker..

I play on 32red poker and they have paypal as deposit option, but I don't know the list of countries allowed. I know that my country (Brazil) isn't allowed because I tried to deposit thorugh paypal and they refused.

You can not use a credit card to purchase a paysafe card. Only Cash or Debit. The reason for this I was told is to prevent CC chargebacks.
